I also have the Kestrel Feather, in 80CRV2, with the Hyena brown/ black G10 handle scales. For me, it's the perfect CQB weapon. It lends itself as a martial arts weapon very well, in my opinion. Very fast, and lively in the hand. And, it's balance is just perfect. But, the beauty of a hawk like this, is that it can be used effectively as a tool for so many things, in any environment. I wish I had mine, when I was In the Marine corps.

I have one myself, still to probably use it but I had a 4140 shrike I used and it was a brilliant tool! Funny enough I had a eagle talon I sold a couple of years ago and I saw it for sale again yesterday and bought it back for what I sold it for 😂 that’s going to be my go to user. The feather is just to pretty! On another note I have a hogue ex to1 Tomahawk and although it’s not full tang since it was designed for cqc with camp tasks as a second. I was sooo impressed with the craftsmanship and the hand honed edge from the factory is absolutely amazing! I have the spike and hammer attachment for versatility. The Hogue is a different animal altogether with regards to philosophy of use but a very interesting lightweight hawk that feels good in hand.

I like tomahawks with the spike like that because you can leverage locks to snap

Landing at Vincennes Indiana among the assembled Indiana and Kentucky Militia prior to the Battle of Tippecanoe- “Many of these militia spoke the French language; their dress was a short frock of deer-skin, a belt around their bodies, with a tomahawk and scalping knife attached to it, and were nearly as destitute of discipline as the savages themselves. The militia from Kentucky and a few companies of Indiana were decent soldiers, yet the large knife and hatchet which constituted a part of their equipment, with their dress, gave them rather a savage appearance. The hatchet, however, was found to be a very useful article on the march - they had no tents but with their hatchets would in a short time form themselves a shelter from the weather, on encamping at night.” -Adam Walker, A Journal of Two Campaigns of the Fourth Regiment of U.S. Infantry in the Michigan and Indiana Territories Under the Command of Col. John P. Boyd and Lt. Col. James Miller During the Years 1811 and 12, (Keene, N.H.: Sentinel Press, 1816).

I have a kestrel feather and have put it to use, In my opinion it is too light for real utililiy use. I imagine it is mostly a hand to hand combat tool with very light breaching and wood chopping abilities. You can baton it just behind the spike for wood splitting. It is tough just too light for my uses. I'm a sucker for RMJ stuff. My favorite RMJ hawk is the little bird with a spike. It just the right weight for serious survial/bushcraft use as well as self defense.

Good video. I think the Kestrel looks more tool then weapon and jenny Wren looks more weapon then tool.
