Honda CB 650 750 900 1000 DOHC - How to Install RMSTATOR Voltage Regulator Rectifier & Starter Relay

Electrical Engineer Evan from RM Stator shows you how to install a new voltage regulator rectifier and starter relay solenoid on your DOHC Honda CB. The bike in the video is a 1982 Honda CB750, but the process is the same for similar motors.
These bikes were known for a fairly weak charging system, and it is very important to know all the components are working well in order to reliably keep the battery charged.
Evan shows you how to test the charging system, and replace the voltage regulator, an easy home repair.
The starter relay solenoid is easy to replace at the same time, as it is mounted to the voltage regulator bracket.

So nice to see a Canadian company in this sector. However I find it odd that you have charging system parts for a 1982 Honda but don't have anything for a 1984 GPZ 900 (the original Top Gun bike) that was extremely popular and thousands of these bikes were built. Can you explain why you don't have regulators or stators/rotor for this bike?

Thank you! I have a charging issue with my 1983 CB1000C. Should you always change the "Starter Relay & The Voltage Regulator" at the same time? My starter seems to be working fine. But is there something there that would "draw' current if it's not replaced at the same time?

Very helpfull video but, as I understand factory Regulators stock may be ending and... what then? I was told that when buying "white line" Regs you have to buy some ten to get a good one... will then be the time to send my CB 750F DOHC to the museum?

Was wondering i have a 91 nighthawk 750. Where is the rectifier on it. The bike runs great. But was wondering if the lights flickering at low rpm and 2500rpm. Doesnt do it going down the road. Thanks........then again. It could just be an old bike and is normal like my old kz.

On your Nighthawk the rectifier is on the frame under the gas tank near the ignition coils. It could be a bad rectifier, or a failing stator. The stator is mounted under the generator cover on the right side of the bike, behind the cylinders. You can easily find a service manual PDF for this bike online, I would follow all of the stator and regulator/rectifier testing steps to determine what is causing your problem.

If you switch to an anti gravity or ballistic battery do you need to switch out your standard rectifier?

Yes it is recommended to use our lithium battery specific regulator rectifier, available on our website.

Could the issue have been the brushes, rotor or stator? I have a 1982 cbc that has a charging issue.

On the CB system, all the parts must be working perfectly for the charging system to work correctly. This includes stator, regulator, field coil rotor, and brushes, not to mention wiring harness, ignition switch, etc, and a good battery!
