I’ve been following one sided underhand sneak vids and smacking the rope into my head repeatedly with the “closing the overhead window” action. The sequence described here seems to omit that entirely yet gets the rope over. I’ve not tried yet but this has to be the one to follow.

Thanks man! This video as well as a few of your other rope flow tutorials really helped me to see the natural connection between dragon rolls, sneaks, and hanumans dance. Working on smoothing things out on both dominant/non-dominant sides now. Not sure if you have a video on this already, but something I’d be interested to learn more about is behind the back moves like the cheetah tail. I can get into it with the UH sneak, alternate sides, etc, but haven’t been able to unlock a clean way to get back to hands in front matadors, etc. Kinda getting “stuck” back there if you know what I mean. 😂

I can do overhand but the underhand has me stumped. Lets see if you can help...it feels like the underhand is the same as the overhand? I like your simple description. Back to the rope for another try..

I can't seem to figure it out. When I roll from the back side to the opposite front it seems to go to an overhand spin and I have to reverse that to go from front to back on the same side.
@smoovmoves2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nathaneil, keep giving it a go. This one took me awhile to figure out. Also, have you checked out the underhand sneak part 2 video? It includes a few more strategies that may help you find that flow. Hope this helps brother!
@parkour15awesome2 жыл бұрын
@@smoovmoves oh, nope, I didn't see that. I'll check it out. But doesn't the roll forward to the opposite side put it into an overhand spin? How do I prevent that?
@tobycannon72572 жыл бұрын
@@parkour15awesome I'm getting that too. This is the first skill that is evading me. Will post if I figure out what ia ma doing wrong
@tobysaracannon88942 жыл бұрын
@@parkour15awesome I think I have cracked it. If you are making the same mistake as I was then you are doing this... Lets say you are facing north and doing underhand circles on your left (West) side, then you sneak your right hand from the left, overhead and behind you to the right. Then you pivot slightly and open your arms to drive the rope back over your head and HERES THE MISTAKE !!! as i bring my hands up over my head, I let them drift together in front of me. So now the rope is falling in front and thus going into an overhand circle (oops!). So the fix is as you open your arms to bring the rope over your head, your right arm does not come up and forward wih the rope, but rather "sticks out" backwards (kinda SouthSouthEast). Now the top of the rope loops up at about the midline of your stance, and if left to it's own devices will just kinda stall there. At about this point you bring you right hand forward at hip height or just below, and let your left hand come back to meet it at your hip. This encourages the top of your rope backwards, behind your midline, so when it does fall, it falls behind you and thus into an underhand spin! If you are having a lot of trouble making this work, then another temporary trick is to pivot more when you open the arms to drive the rope overhead. Instead of pivoting to about NorthEast, pivot right to South East. Now instead of driving the rope up across and forward, you are sending it up, across and backwards, whence it will fall into an underhand rotation. Careful though because as it drops and you pivot back to NE, you can drive the rope very fast, not ideal when you are trying to break down a new move. Anyhoo, 15 minutes of working this out last night got me to the point where I reliably end up underhand, though I still need to do a couple of underhand spins before I launch the next sneak.

Excellent tutorial! I love my RMT ropes but they're getting a bit worn when I use them on concrete, can you let me know what you used to protect yours? Thanks!
@smoovmoves2 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, appreciate your patience on this reply. I dont use anything to protect the rope. The solid part on my rope is actually wear and tear. Tape may help but I have not tried it. I'm definitely due for a new rope, but despite the wear, it still works pretty well. Hope this helps!

Thus us awesome... I have been trying to learn this for a long time. This will help for sure. Can you show the pronation and supination of the hands a bit better in another video? I think this is the key I am missing on my rope flow. Thank you!
@smoovmoves3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lizette! Thank you for the comment and some direction for future videos. I've added this to my list. I will review what supination and pronation are, how they show up in rope flow, and some exercises to dial in the movement. Are there any other questions that you have that I can "sneak" in the video? Cheers!

Great video, I’ve learned so much. I have a question. My rope is too light, is there anything I can do to make it heavier so it will swing better?
@smoovmoves Жыл бұрын
Hey Karen, so great to hear things are starting to click with the rope! The only thing you could try to make the rope heavier is to tie a knot or two at the very middle of the rope. This would shorten the rope but it could end up having the feel of a heavier rope.
@grantbronk909911 ай бұрын
What's in the middle of your rope? I was thinking about rolling some electrical tape around the middle to ease the wear and tear, but you've got something else that looks like another section of rope or something.
