i bought a Rokon TrailBreaker in 2015..its an amazing machine! there's a few things id like to changed but they are somewhat minor. it is an expensive bike but now that I'm older, i use this bike to explore instead of beating up my jeep. you do have to use your legs a lot in uneven rocky terrain and water cuz it only has 2 wheels but it will take you to places nobody else can go, that i guarantee. when the trail ends, quads, side by sides and dirt bikes simply fail.if your looking for something speedy, this isn't the bike for you. its relatively slow (58km hr/35 mph) top speed but it climbs like a mountain goat, goes through mud like a wallowing hippo, and goes through the woods and over stumps like a bear , simply overcoming almost every obstacle with little effort. its quite a workout and the perfect bike for where i live in the Yukon Territory in Canada

What a great video. You certainly tested the bikes with no mercy for either the bikes or the riders. I would say that, apart from perhaps very hot dry and sandy conditions, nothing more could be asked of a test. Well done and thank you very much. The bike is not for lazy persons! That was a damn funny line.

I'm happy you finally get the chance to review the Rokon and while I admit the price for a Fully Loaded model can be over $9000 you can get a Base model closer to $5000 from a retailer. and the interesting thing about trying to find a used model is they are not only hard to find but they hold their value. A thing to note about the float-ability for crossing streams is the drum rims need to be empty to provide best flotation. there used to be a pontoon kit available on market but since they were not many sold they discontinued. but some people have made their own pontoon kits so they can ride the rokon into water and back out again. one of the best accessories they ever had in my opinion. But now that you have access to a rokon even a civilian one i hope you can do a head to head test with the winners of the last 2x2 head to head challenge you did. id like to see how the rokon compares with some tougher terrain tests this time.

I had two old rokons given to me both had bad engines. I retrofitted a liquid cooled YZ125 engine into one of them its pretty fun once you get the hange of it. Previous owner claimed to have drugged two black bears out of the woods totaling 500 lbs.

Growing up, my Dad had a Trail-Breaker and we did many motorcycle/backpacking trips on it. His model had the old 'grapefruit' clutch which was a major PITA to change the transmission fluid 2x on every long climb. Still have many fond memories of that bike. I would love to find it and restore it someday.

I have had a Rokon Trailbreaker for over 10 years. I live in the USA state, New Hampshire, where it is made. It is exactly as you describe. I have Unimogs too, it is the Unimog or Zil of 2 wheelers. We have had several deaths of ATV riders in our area from roll over, both sideways and backwards. 700+ pounds to crush you. It is almost impossible for this on a Rokon. Great video!

I have a '75 rokon that I got for 800 dollars. It's two stroke, loud and smoky but it runs like it's still a new machine. And the two stroke is better for climbing hills.... You don't have to worry about it getting oil throughout the engine. The newer models in four stroke don't have an actual fuel pump. They rely on oil splashing, which isn't good for a lot of climbing. And speaking of climbing, that thing has taken me places that I didn't want to come down from. It's fun uphill but when you are hanging off the back of the machine going downhill, trying and hoping like hell that you don't roll it... It's interesting to say the least. I've honestly thought a couple times about just leaving it at the top of some of the hills I've climbed.

I referee with it in airsoft games and its ability to go ANYWHERE is incredible. If you get one option, go with the brush-buster handle protectors. They are a must if you want to keep your hands in one piece going through the woods :D

They are going to lose our on a lot of people who can't quite pay that much on a toy. Myself, I can but won't. I will buy a Polaris Ranger, 4 wheeler, and a bike for that much. Not new but good. I love their trailer. That thing is great. It looks like it tracks true. Again great review !!

The actual real military version has a diesel engine, sounds like and looks like you had the Kohler gas engine. I have been drooling over Rokons for over 25 years and never thought I’d own one. Lo and behold I was able to get one. A guy was selling his 2018, it’s now 2024, when I called him up and he told me, the price was $2500! For a Trail breaker! I tried to not sound to excited. He said it had low mileage. Well I drove 3 1/2 hours to get it. I think he didn’t think he could get much for it bc it was so dirty. I’m a car detailer, I brought it home and cleaned it up and went over the whole thing. It cleaned up to mint condition, the little nubs were still on the tires. I didnt even run it yet, I’m waiting on a battery hold down from ROKON.

The easy to come by parts make it awesome. Easy to repair and fix. The only set back is price. The price is a problem because of so many other bikes that joy riders would rather have. For me I am a camper and love the mountains so i would take rokon over any other dirt bike.

Would be interesting to test Rokon against some of the new Russian copies as well as a 2WD Ural with sidecar. I wish we had more access to Russian motorcycles, Russian bikes are made very well to survive harsh Russian winters and difficult Russian terrain, also Russia have many experienced engineers who think outside of box. Seems Russia is using inexpensive Chinese engines on their new Rokon copies but they manufacture all of the rest of motorcycle and their frame/chassis are extremely well made, I wish they would be able to make the engines as well as they definitely could make a good quality engine. The best option on a Rokon style motorcycle would be if it could be switched by throwing a lever to go from off road to an on road mode and be able to travel at 40mph on road, if such a model could be made then they’d sell extremely well in the USA as well as rest of world, 45mph would be best as an on road speed as the American made Rokon can only go 30mph on road and is a major reason it doesn’t sell more, it’s also reason Ural doesn’t sell as much in USA because it doesn’t go faster on Road, I know Ural factory has made newer bikes Faster on road speed and I hope they’ll sell more that way, my hope is You can speak to manufacturers of Rokon copy and ask them to create a version that can go 40-45 mph on road as they’d sell more than USA made version, I myself would definitely buy such a bike immediately and create a channel here on KZbin to show its capability, I’ve over 10 yrs of riding experience, I’ve also gotten to ride my Granfathers old HD WLA 45” he had stroked to 54” with the 74” flywheel and hotter cams and carb but also my great uncles old Dnieper 2WD sidecar bike , he had 2 running and a couple of parts bikes on his farm and they worked well off road and extremely useful as farm vehicles and to be able to go into town and bring back a whole sidecar full of supplies, had to get used to its shifter though it wasn’t as scary as using the old Harley hand/ suicide shifter. It would be nice if BMW would work with Ural to help them upgrade and modernize their bikes. Many people here believe that Russian motorcycles like the Ural were only made after the war by Soviets carrying away all of the BMW factory when truthfully the Soviets bought all the machining tools from Germany BEFORE the war started as well as the Soviets having bought tooling to make flathead 750cc engines from HD in the 1930’s. Later after the war the Soviets did take upgrades that BMW developed and incorporated them into their bikes and sold the old flathead BMW tooling to China who made the bike Chiang Jiang there in China for decades so the flathead BMW style bike kept on being made I think until the mid to late 1980’s in China and can still be bought there relatively cheaply but it’s hard to get parts here. At least with a genuine Ural parts can be gotten for them, just wish high performance parts would be made for those great bikes. Sorry for my long rambling post. I wish you and all those who work on your channel continued success at what you’re doing and all of you many years of safe and fun riding

Heh, even mini bikes are generally faster than a Rokon. But they are like the tractors of the bike world. Do most everything other bikes do, just slower, and then a lot of things they cant. The load capacity is huge, they float (kind of), just a nice package. Also easy to maintain and cheap to operate. Your bike is great too, but different purposes imo.

I watched a review earlier, it's also rated to tow 2,000 lbs... some elk hunters find them very useful.

Congrats on getting the Rokon for the vid. But, for me the highlight is an AK on the handle bars....then shooting.... Sweet... Thanks.

+Joe Dulewich but they so nicely look together AK and rokon, dont they? By the way it isnt AK, its a hunting rifle

@@RMW Thanks for the clarification on that. Just going off looks... We are not allowed an AK variant of any kind in Canada. Sadly. Thanks for replying.

That is the Alaskan adventure bike. Should be turbo diesel. Lots of torque and very handy survival fuel. Could have an accompanied small diesel tent heater.
