This is how to create great music growing up in the seventies this was a breath of fresh air in a time of popular music that all sounded the same there are not many artists even today that don't follow the trend of popular hits they all sound the same then along comes bands like this and my faith is restored in music.

This song is about her little sister named Bonnie that died when she was young. Amy was 6 at the time. Notice all the children. She held her hand. Chased away her fears. She talks about the meaning of the song. Immortal means can never die. It effected her very hard. In case people don't know the story behind the song. Her little sister will always be with her. 😢

The song she wrote about her sister is “Hello.” The lyrics for this song were mostly written by Ben Moody, who is playing the piano and walking about in the video. Amy contributed the bridge and melody, I believe. They wrote it when they were 15.

I saw evanescence in 2004 crazy good at a giant music festival. Her voice is incredible. Seether was on the same bill when they were a hot item. s Speaking of out of this world vocal control check out the Barefoot Princess or a new Jazz Queen since she just turned 18 Bad Valentine latest to drop. ANGELINA JORDAN(ASTAR) and yes she is not to be missed. I saw her last year live 7000km round trip.. Has been singing since she was 18 months. Jazz legends sing through her..crazy crazy good. I know you tried Nightwish already, but if you like this track, you should go back to Nightwish and react to Dead Boy's Poem, live from Buenos Aires. It's one of their more meaningful songs, very pretty and melancholy, like this one, but also a rocker... just like this one, and where Amy Lee knocks this out of the park, Floor Jansen singing Tumos Holpainen compositions is just unmatched! Especially watching them create the flawless magic live!

@@terrybohling6194 You know, I never thought of it from that angle. I was thinking cancer or some other long lasting illness but very well could have been depression or some other mental illness that led to that. This video and song were both way ahead of its time.

My ex wife use to play this album constantly so at the time I never got to appreciate it like I do these days listening to it at leisure when their song's pop up on my playlist shuffle 😂😂 she only got into evanescence because everyone told her she looked exactly like Amy Lee..I couldn't see myself I thought she looked more like trinity of the matrix 😂😂

Amy Lee (vocals) and Ben Moody (guitar) met as teens and formed Evanescence - they co-wrote the songs together... They were also a couple for a while... When Evanescence released the album 'Fallen' in 2003, Lee and Moody called each other "best friends"... but years later, some disturbing details emerged... Ben Moody suffered from mental issues that was revealed to be bipolar disorder and he had apparently been physically abusive to Amy Lee during their relationship... Moody wrote 'My immortal' ... I suspect, as an apology to Amy Lee for his past actions towards her... (Wiki says that the lyrics were based on fantasy...) Moody left Evanescence in the Fall of '03 in the middle of a tour after he had been in 3 of their music videos... and Amy Lee was upset w/ him. They have never spoken since... Amy Lee wrote the next Evanescence album 'The Open Door' (2006) w/ guitarist Terry Balsamo, who replaced Ben Moody.... the album's first single "Call me when you're sober" was directed at Amy Lee's ex-BF Shaun Morgan, the frontman/ guitarist of the band Seether (They recorded a duet 'Broken' by Seether when they were together) In 2010, Ben Moody formed a new band We Are The Fallen... w/ former Evanescence members Rocky Gray (drums), John LeCompt (guitar) and Marty O'Brien (bass)... featuring Carly Smithson (vocals)... They released 1 album 'Tear the world down'... before it fell apart. There is still a possibility that We Are The Fallen might return. Amy Lee and Evanescence are still actively recording and touring.

When this song came out, the band released a “band” mix directly from their website for a brief time, that didn’t have the crashing guitar break. Instead, it had just a passionate piano section. Also, the beeping sound as the song fades away is apparently something one of their keyboards does if you leave it alone for a time. The keyboardist didn’t know what it was, but I’m pretty sure it’s Morse Code. I’m just too lazy to translate it (and it’s prolly just the manufacturer’s name.)

The original version is better, in my opinion. It's just her singing, the piano and the string instruments. No drums and no guitar. Gives a different feel. I think the record label ruined this song!! Amy Lee does an amazing cover of Led Zeplins Going to California and U2's With or Without You. You should check those out as well!
