On April 1, 2022 at approximately 2:00pm I passed by a location in northern Wisconsin where was no road deer kill. At approximately 6:00pm the same day I passed by that same location again. It was at this time that I observed a large doe partially in the roadway in the lane I was traveling in. If for no other reason but to remove the deer from the roadway I turned around with my pickup truck and trailer to investigate. I pulled the deer off the roadway and and realized it had just been hit. Only once before around 20+ years ago have I ever picked up a deer off the roadway and processed it for venison meat. Once back at my property about 8 miles away I gutted the deer and hung it up for procession the next day. The overnight temps were in the low 20's. After processing the deer I happened to drive by the gut pile from the night before. I recognized that the gut pile was larger than usual but didn't really pay much attention to it. Now however I wanted to see why. What I found was really unusual for me. Thanks for visiting my KZbin channel. Be safe and be blessed :-)

This unfortunately happens daily until they're born. I try to pick up every fresh roadkill deer I can; I've found baby deer inside twice. First one was so small it fit in the palm of my hand but was fully developed as far as it's structure. (minus spots) Second one I found on a very cold morning in May and the baby deer was literally probably a day from being born. Full size fawn with spots. The one I got in May I knew had a baby in it; I was hoping maybe there was a chance to save it so I very very carefully loaded it and made precise cuts to get it out, but there was no sign of life. I figured the impact would have killed it, but sometimes miracles happen so it was worth a try!
