To difficult to get into that corner of the garage attic to run the cable. Also, I may be extending the tower at some point.

It’s been a few years now since I installed the tower. I found a used one for $250. Then with all the concrete, excavation etc I would say anywhere between $1,000 and $1,500.

It did not look so much like a crash to me. It looked like the pilot and passenger remained calmed, and a controlled emergency landing was made. In fact, it looked like a really great job done by both pilot and passenger to me. No panic. Just put it down where you had to do so! Grace under pressure...

We just bought a mountain property in rural California. We have DSL. I have purchased the Starlink system. My Questions are: Will DSL and Starlink cancel one another thus giving us slow speeds? We work from home so the internet is VIP for us. Are there special "Settings" I have to set for both DSL and Starlink to work together and give us faster speeds? I got both services because I didn't know what to expect and needed a Plan B. Our realtor said she had both services and her kids don't experience any slow speeds as they Game Online. I never thought to ask about the settings. *Do I just set up Starlink accordingly? *Is it plug and play or do I need to adjust Settings? *If so what might that be? *Is there a video someone can point me to? I would like to set up Starlink asap as they are charging us now and it's still in the box :( Can some of you gurus chime in and point this man in the right direction. Thank you in advance MountainAngel

I’m not an expert on Starlink or DSL. My first thought is Starlink is more than fast enough for 2 people working from home. Bout of course I don’t know how much bandwidth you’re using. Seeing that you already purchased the Starlink system, I suggest you set it up and try it out.

Thanks for the video! Surprised they came up with a design where the bottom 2 fan screws are blocked, requiring extra unnecessary effort to remove the motherboard just to access the fan. TiVO Setup and background: I have a 2015 TiVO Roamio Series 5 (Cable model, NOT OTA) - bought with a Lifetime subscription (<< this fact will become important later - see part in red) which has served me well for the last 7 years (using a Cablecard from Xfinity for Cable TV). I have an 8 TB HDD in it (95% full of recordings) created using the mfstools process. I also had made an 8TB backup drive as well (cloned with Duplicartor). What happened in 2022: The bad - In 2022, my 19 month old 8TB HDD in my Roamio stopped working. The good - I replaced the faulty 8TB HDD with a new 8TB HDD (onto which I successfully cloned another 8TB 'backup' drive - (which I had made as a precaution). So far so good... www.tivocommunity.com/threads/roamio-boots-up-successfully-and-displays-menu-for-10-seconds-but-then-freezes-reboots-again-8tb-hdd-failed-or-corrupted-19-month-old-hdd.588847/ Now to the really bad part and reason for this post: Since my Roamio (non-Pro) fan was 7 years old and I was going to be working in the Roamio anyway, I proactively (now wish I had not) decided to get a replacement fan (from Weaknees). During the fan installation process is where the NIGHTMARE started... Everything went fine with the fan replacement as well TILL at the end it was time to reconnect the Cable Card bracket to the motherboard pins. I managed to bend some of these Cable card bracket connector pins on the motherboard (and they are small so it is hard to see which ones are bent and how far they were bent). By this time is was almost 2 AM (had to work next day) and I was trying to carefully bend the pins back gently to the extent possible. Well after an hour plus of checking and trying to fix the bent pins one by one, one of the pins snapped off completely. LONG STORY SHORT (note - this all dates back to 2022): I now use my TiVO Roamio (Non-Pro) for watching the recordings on the 8TB drive, but cannot use it for Live TV due to the broken pins (see above). I bought a Roamio Pro in 2022 (also added another 8TB drive to it) to move my cable card to so I could watch live TV. So I have 16TB of recording space between the two TiVO units. I use the Pro for Live TV and recordings. I use the regular Roamio (Non-Pro) for recordings only (due to bent pins issue above). If TiVO had not forced us to have to remove the motherboard to access the bottom 2 fan screws, I would never have had to remove the cable card bracket in the first place and never had the broken pins issue! Luckily the Pro is much much easier to service - you can just access the fan after removing the case (four T10 screws) - than the non-Pro model. I have to check if I only attached the top two screws after replacing my fan in 2022 on my non-Pro Roamio.

Hey Gerald thanks for the video, I’m in a very similar predicament, did you cut out the little punctured section? And what is that brass union/coupling you used? I have a decent sized puncture, and was anticipated having to cut out the bad piece and solder/braze in a new piece of line. Coupling looks easier by far. Thanks

Thanks for the comment. The brass fitting was purchased at a local hardware store. Yes the Freon line was cut out to accommodate the high pressure fitting. I think solder/brazing would work too. I just didn't want to be working to close to the freezer with a heat source.
