Great analysis! As a company car driver (30k miles a year) and a biker (6k miles a year) I see this kind of stuff weekly and find it helps my own mental health to just ignore and get on with my day. Winding yourself up because someone didn't give way, or pulled in front of you, driving too close etc only ruins your day. Stay calm and move on, simple.

it's a good rule of thumb, if your manoeuvre is going to make another vehicle adjust speed/direction, you're doing it wrong (after all, 'tis a fail on your test...) as for situations approaching junctions and stuff on a motorbike, always be prepared to stop (or make some form of change to avoid issues), then you're already half ahead of the game.
@lucywucyyyАй бұрын
yes! im always anticipating people turning in front of me even if i have no reason to suspect they will i dont even acknowledge indicators i assume youre turning my way even if you indicate the other way (that happens disappointingly often) ive never had an issue though because im always prepared for the worst i also watch the speed of other cars at all times if anyones changing their speed i can only assume its in preparation to turn and like the audi you can never assume youve been seen because even in a bright red car i somehow dont get seen, in a black car its so much worse though

Spot on breakdown and driving advice. I like the fact a lot of younger riders watch this channel, and you're saying this to them. It's solid, wise advice. One wors covers it all: anticipation. You're a good role model for your younger audience. I would say, however, that two cars raging at each other is lethal, as other road users and pedestrians are often victims. But on a bike, yes, you're immensely vulnerable.

You are absolutely right, bikers need to be so calm. Love the video, keep up the great work.

Yeah very true. My serious accident back in December that's left me with a nice selection of back problems. Not my fault as he was drunk and went into the back of me whilst I was stationary. However, he was tailgating me for probably close to 2 miles way back up that road where I initially turned in. Dangerously close at times even. Smart thing would be to just pull over and let him pass which is something I find myself doing now. I think people have this instinct to fight for their position in the road which the leads to accidents that could have avoided if you just stop fighting for spaces and think more about keeping well away from drivers that put yours and other road users lives in danger, especially when on a motorbike up against a transit like my case . Even though I was the innocent party in this case, I've still learned a valuable lesson from it and it's made me a better rider ready for my move onto larger bikes. Be it slightly more uncomfortable now from the injuries I sustained.

Rule of Thumb: unless you have made direct eye contact with another driver, always act like they haven't seen you. Even if you have made direct eye contact, assume that they don't care about killing you, and ride accordingly. Being alive is better than being dead and in the right.

i really like ashley neils concept of the "non event" things that could be a whole big deal like this dont have to be you can just shut up and keep driving yknow and with how people drive nowadays you HAVE to do that if i got into a fight with every person that caused me to hard brake id spend more time arguing than driving

I had road rage a few day's ago, and I totally justify my anger, was doing 30, on a 30 road, 2 teenagers, must have been about 13, 14, on the pavement, the lad definitely sees me coming, and decided to push his girlfriend into the road right in front of me, luckily I breaked in time, I went nuts.

I impression of road rage is that most of the time the aggravated driver has pent up negativity, and something triggers it. I can be something serious, or something minor, but their reaction is usually disproportionate. I know that last part for sure because I've lost my cool several times in recent years.

I'm honestly shocked at your comments on the short. I've noticed a trend where people try to find a way to blame the poster at all cost for anything that happens. I do find it hard to be to harsh on baldy though. I probably would have let loose some "language" myself before moving on and getting over it. The biggest shame is smiler was gearing up for a little chat with you about the bike and the incident scuppered his plans. He looked really happy to see you on the bike.

I really don't understand road rage in the slightest. I've been knocked off 2 bikes, broke an arm each time, but getting angry never helped the situation, so I just didn't. If people can do that, surely we can just chill tf out on the roads.

I'm totally with you, about who did what, and how they could avoid it... but... I just want to know more about this cow print. I drive and ride, I don't understand why people try to attach themselves to the back of me, especially on my bike, on a hill, while waiting at lights... loonies don't know how to hill start a bike, else they'd hang back a bit.

Looking at the thumbnail for this vid made me wonder if the way the bald guy's passenger reacted to him having to slam on, affected how the bald guy reacted. Though I'm not dismissing the possibility that the bald guy is just a knobrash as well. And the old guy definitely needs to get his arse back to Specsavers.
