A lot of young people today just don't appreciate the value of hard work. They've been taught by ✌️certain people✌️ that things come for free. Of course that's not true for the majority, but enough to where it makes apprenticeships more difficult.

trying to find a decent apprentice mechanic is like trying to find a virgin in newcastle just today the 19 yo was whingeing that the busfare/ time to get to work is crap. "how about passing your test + buying a part ex, you can do it up on your breaks" "oh no, they all need work done on them" "BUT YOU ARE A MECHANIC!!!!" we are clearly fkd...

My attitude mucker was to get my son out and doing from a very young age. Just today he was helping me to change front discs and pads on my dads car. Would feel I failed as a father if he turned out as a snowflake. Loving the content mucker keep it up

Well said sir we tried getting a youngster to help out but no luck they want top dollar but don’t wont to put the work/time in. Today unfortunately some youngsters just want everything handed to them a good hard worker is hard to come by

Your rant was well noted and accurate. I learned what skills I've acquired over the decades because I HAD to... plus the drive to learn. But truth be told, I haven't needed anyone to really do any repairs on vehicles or buildings, with the exception of a bit of roofing... ( I don't bounce as well as I did 40 years ago). I had asked a younger guy IF he could help simply aid in lifting some tin roofing sheets into place for my garage. He showed up and had the attention span of a squirrel..... I let him go and had someone a few years older than the dimwit... and he worked out fantastic. I've since hired him on various projects I may need a hand with (mainly an extra back to lift) and he ALWAYS shows up ON TIME and takes directions without any grief. So they ARE out there... but pickins ARE slim.

It's a sad state of affairs that many of the younger generation don't want to work makes me wonder who is going to carry out jobs such as farming engineering or building etc in the future 🤔

Yep...I ended up welding, pipe fitting, plumbing, steel fab and erection.. Younsters all wanted to learn but do it between 11am amd 3pm ...so always ended up on my own. All the good ones were going for it themselves ....I can do that. So I kept an eye out at the suppliers and asked a few young lads if they could give me hand sometimes. It worked pretty well...there was some that were a waste of oxygen. But after a while I found one or two that were quite happy to work my way...

The young ones today don’t want Manual jobs all want to make a living on a computer which is fine but when the country grinds to a halt as there is nobody to do the Manual jobs they will all say what has happened

What a shame I didn’t think the roads were dark and got slippery when wet. What will happen if we ever get a proper good long winter back. One thing the train drivers would save a lot of money for the company’s because they couldn’t get to work. No work no pay that is how farther treated me. But mother still fed me. Good to listen to you this morning. 60s 70s and 80s winters.

Like to see a bit more of your lovely collie. As someone who had to start work at 06:30 for BA. for 43 years I would be pretty pissed with his Mum. Had one apprentice who refused to leave the van to work inside the aircraft because uniform stores hadn't issued him with a woolly hat. Remember the front brake on the motorbike freezing solid still got to collage. 18 he is technically an adult. Enjoy the channel. Thanks.

Looking good, Kurt. Great content coming through. There are always people who want to pamper their kids and … they are the ones who ignore the history which instructs you otherwise! My mother remembers having to study at home during the NZ polio epidemic in the late 1940s or thereabouts. I once was talked to some other ladies of a similar age about that epidemic and they recalled that the children who contracted polio tended to be the ones who were not allowed play with others. Stupid is stupid. Sad but true. Thanks for the updates. Please keep them coming.

The roads are icy in winter before 8.30am FFS. I once nearly stacked a car at 4.30 in the afternoon. Frozen section road had sat in the shade all day. Opposite lock for the win.

Morning Kurt - Where did it all go wrong. When I started on the Farm we started at 7 in the week and 5 at weekends - even after a GOOD night out. Before I retired I reckoned on getting most of my work done by 9. Before the phone started!

Good video. Good points on the minor rant. Some of the young generation want top money for very minimal hours working. Just a full blown entitled attitude. I think my 20 yr old grandson describes it best though, This working for a living really sucks, but it pays the bills & helps get me my trade. That was a proud Grandpa moment right there. Not only did I get it through to my son, he passed it on to his son.

Great video, so true about getting help, I has a few apprentices and fitters over the years, was always wary when their mother was doing the asking and organising, no-one did it for me when I started out. Keep up the good work.

And of course, the other thing about sharing is when so many others enjoy what your sharing. And its a crying shame how soft so many youngsters are these days, fair dinkum. I had to ride a pushie for nearly 2 years (sometimes in the coldest/wettest weather) to get to work here in oz. And had to be there consistently before 7 in the morning, had many other jobs that required very early starts also and of course very late starts too. Thats all in a days work.

As for coming for a on site visit don't send them to sanders place as you won't get a go on his prize tractor, as his battery is nacked. I got a job at 16. we lived a bit out of town, the manager said to my mum will he get here on time. Answer, he will be there on time, what ever the weather, on the twist & go. Snow flakes now. Just had some leaflet's made for my business. Lass down my rd said here son would do it for some money as he had done before for someone else. So I asked him. He is approx. 15 still at school. His reply was I don't do that sort of work anymore. He has a little car washing round with his mate, that he tows round on bogie at weekends. I started laughing when he had gone. Little bastard got a right business head on him. Goo vlog as usual. Do well till the next one. I used to go past Komatsu @ Birtley in the N/East.

The world has gone for the youth, as a kid my brother and I were home from school changed, back out the door, only rule be home by dark. If something was going on we were part of it, got trades early and now bother respected in our fields and sought after. The young ones these days have a list of condition before you said anything, new tradesmen are just parts fitters, they can't fix fuck all, diagnosing a problem is not in their contract. Few more years and everything will be fucked because no-one can fix anything.

I get help on the farm here from a young lad (15) lives down the hill from me. No farm experience. I trained him to milk cows,now milks 120 on his own. He can do all farm work he,s asked to do. No backchat. He went and bought a little tractor for himself. International 444. Now he,s going to plough his father's garden for spuds, haul firewood and tractor runs. I worked on Alan Doe’s (the governor) farm between 1994/98. Was lucky enough to have some good kit both Blue and Brown. Although I was on the farm I still used to get in the main workshop occasionally…the things I learnt from those old school mechanics…miss em really but times move on. Maybe I’ve missed this…but when are we going to see that mystery tractor your keeping hidden in your workshop??
