Screw the LEDs, the buggers have a disproportionately high failure rate compared to tungsten - put some uprated tungsten bulbs in what you've got, if you feel the need, but forty plus years ago we were perfectly happy with the lighting kit that came as standard - Do people these days suffer from some sort of visual imparement? I remember our old Cropmaster had one headlight with a thirty watt bulb, and one ploughing light, also equipped with a thirty watt bulb. Sixty watts of illumination to cover both ends, and we managed perfectly well. I tell you straight, about 2005 we had a lad in the field next to us, and he was drilling winter wheat with his grey Fergy, by torchlight! Literally, one hand on the wheel, and the other holding the bloody torch - Not that I'd go that far meself, but he did it just the same!!

Both tractors are the nuts. Obviously the 8210 will win. Don’t embarrass the 7810 without weighing it up the same. Nothing beats the long wheel base throw. Love the collie dog.

Keep the old girl with the lights she supposed to have without a doubt. I reckon a 78 and an 82 is as good as it gets from the 80s/90s awesome bits of kit.

Yes the standard lights are good and it's nice to keep old tractors original. The front weight is a good thing to have on a four wheel drive tractor , It helps keep the front wheels gripping. Be careful mucker those front tyres look a bit perished . Don't want one of those going bang when your near it.

No leds, but id stick some led warm white bulbs in the side lights to keep original look and brake and tail lights, they are the lights you'll typically have on the most👍

I have to say, your dog’s expressions and actions stole the show at the end. Reminds me of my dog when I try to watch my phone and stop petting her. That looks like a nice original 7810, the 8210 is pretty sharp as well. It will come down to engine horsepower and traction. Either way, you get to enjoy some time in a 7810 or 8210. Thanks for the Videos, Lord Muck.

No matter the outcome of the "Pull off", it will still be great and interesting to see the 7810 and 8210 go head to head. Can't wait! Keep them original. Although some new LEDs replacements are looking closer to the old types, they still spoil the look of the machine in my opinion.

No to the LED’s unless it’s a working tractor can be quite a harsh light n doesn’t go will the ye olde classic lines of the tractor…. Its gonna be a close pull between the two of those, but I agree with no two tractors the same experienced that on 956xls and recently when I drove my dads old 1594 compared to mine, mines pulls well but dads well worn tractor still felt snappier on the throttle really looking forward to this Ford Showdown

My neighbors told me went Leds on tractor plus combines plus trucks save hits deers and coyote animals last year doing work at night had do crops of corn , Soybeans, grains too! Also talk about Antifreeze mixs all depends on weather is going be on seasons use a tractor and combine plus trucks ! One summer season was hot one my dad said was serivce tractor also combine up 60 % Antifreeze, 40 % water for protection be sure help keep blowing over in rad but used bit more diesel fuel in tractor and combine was gas add 2 gallon of Desiel fuel to gas help staying cool in engine Antifreeze was fine burn 1 quart engine oil ever 8 day worth! But temperature was over 108'F that summer in daytime and nights! Even us humans was drinking lots water than normal Lol! Yes be repeated on that weather last 20 years my area of Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 too !

Interesting comment about the coolant. In Canada I’m pretty sure we have been running 50/50 for a long time because of the colder winters and I don’t think the original Fords over here got porous blocks as often. That might be why. And stick to the original lights 👍

I normally use led when I can not sure if anyone actually pays attention when switching your lights on but normally you will feel a dip in revs as you do so that it the alternator loading up to cope with the extra power needed to run the lights no that is taking power away from the engine and using more fuel with led lights you don't get anywhere nearby the draw so take less power from the engine so better response and lighter load on alternator uses less fuel hope that makes sense
@stevenclaeys62525 ай бұрын
Leave the lights original. Not worth the cost and buggering around for what you are doing with it . Thank you for another great video. Stay safe out there. Cheers

I use led lights. Only use it 20 hours per year but it takes the strain off the eyes at night. But personally i think they spoil the look. There are some that look really good asthetically these days but even led lights with the original lenses over them look good in tbe day and are usable by night. You can always adjust the brightness like i do on my major with a for road use. And have them on max power for off road use.

Torque and traction win in a tug of war. The heaviest tractor will win unless you've got some weight transfer. From personal experience a dexta with a Ferguson hitch on the lift arms could pull the same weight as a 4 cylinder nuffield using it's drawbar.

@Equiluxe15 ай бұрын
Stay with the original lights apart from they look the part they are easier on the eyes as they have a much broader spectrum.No idea if those Fords have wet liners but I used to put chromed liners in Leyland engines and run on 50/50 coolant, thats chrome on the outside not inside the liners, the middle cylinders were a particular problem for cavitation on Leyland engines.

I would recommend using a de ionised water / antifreeze mix in cooling systems rather than tap water because I think it helps avoid alot of the corrosion and cavitation problems. I’m pretty sure that was something that made coolguard in a John Deere such a good product aswell as the strength like you say. Could you water ballast the tyres on your 78 to give it a little bit of help?

Concerning the lights.........if it ain't broke it don't need fixing. Concerning the extra weight for better grip, l was brought up on a farm and l can distinctly remember ( yes it was a long time ago late 70's ) all the tractors had the tyres 90% filed with water, not just because a lot of the land was very hilly but also for better grip, although l'm sure you know that already.

Looks like you need to call your friends at Michelin. Adding a weight bracket from a different tractor if it fits I would say is a good idea. My Deutz Allis 9170 gets light in the front when running the lemken disc I got so I am looking for a larger weight bracket from a 8050 or 8070 Allis Chalmers. The Allis Chalmers guys would be pissed off if I ever managed to get one but I don't care. When it comes to the LEDs it's your tractor. Do what you want but the LEDs are better and never say never. Might end up in a situation where the tractor will get used heavy again just unlikely at this point.

Hey Mucka good call on the 40 series tombstone, it's gonna be great in the long run, and also nothing wrong with a bit of turbo action, the whistle from 7810 is really hard to beat! 😛 I don't know about the rest of Europe, but here in Denmark we have a little company that goes by the name of HE-VA, you might or might not know of them and all through the 80's and most of the 90's they were, amongst other things, known for making front 3-point linkage kits for Fords, Massey's, John Deere's etc., for farmers that wanted it and also supplied the other Scandinavian countries with these kits, we got a few here left that still have the conversation, but most have been restored back to factory spec, but it definitely was a thing here 😀 looking forward to seeing the battle commence, even if you just told me to shut up about the turbo thing, i don't give a rats arse about it, I just want to see an epic battle 😉
