My grandpa had an 89 D150 with the 318. Went over 400,000 miles with regular maintenance and was still running when sold.

Had a 1985 318 12 mpg but drove and rode better than the 1995 f150 I replaced it with

Wish these days you could pick a new, all bells and whistles truck up for less than 15 grand.

Adjusting for inflation, that 12 thousand dollar figure comes out to about 34 grand for a fully kitted model. These days you cant find a new full sized truck for that much anywhere, a base model truck these day goes for about 40 grand at the lowest and reaches into the 50s and 60s on higher trim levels. even thought these trucks with regular maintanence will out last any of the newer model, especially if you went for some of the more bomb proof engine options. Most if not all new vehicles are only expected to reach 150,000 miles before a major failure, but I suppose thats the trade off for all the modern comforts and safety features.
