Hey, Steven. Thanks for the video. The transition jump is actually crucial. I learned this the hard way but if you approach your jump like a transition jump and edge really effectively into the wind, you maintain optimal line tension and that makes it possible for your kite to complete a powered loop so much faster than if you are not edging well on your approach.

Really like your videos Steven, so well explained and love the distance shots then close ups, and the step by step progressions. On a normal jump transition, I’m able to do a jump transition with a vertical take off fairly well and get quite a lot of hang time if really pull bar in but often find I land straight back down then there’s a pause before I get going again. Wondering if I should redirect sooner or take kite back and then across zenith again ? I guess a loop may help this too ? So looking forward to to trying a loop on way down too
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Pete, awesome to hear that you're enjoying the videos 🤗 Sounds like you can redirect the kite earlier and maybe even faster towards your new riding direction. That should help with getting up to speed quick instead of having that pause at your landing. Riding out with a loop should help as well. Enjoy the practise 🤙

Hi Steven, thanks for the excellent video! I have been kiting for a few years (on f-one bandits) and these videos fit perfectly with my goal to improve my kiteloops. For this goal I am now also looking for new kites and doubting to go for XR of Nexus.. which do you suggest? The high-lift of the XR or the better looping of the Nexus? (I think my preference goes to the Nexus, because of the versatility). Thanks for your advice! Cheers Anton
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Anton Awesome that you get so much out of these videos! The Nexus is in a similar category as the Bandit when it comes to steering and playfulness of the kite. If you really enjoy the Bandit I think the Nexus would be the right choice. That said the New XR7 is a beast! It became a lot faster and I would say that you can comfortably loop the 9m and below. The Nexus is still a lot faster and my prefered kite. One way or another, you can't really go wrong with any of them. Enjoy the send!

Great video Steven! Does it matter which side to pull? I see on your video you pull the loop with your back hand… when I am practicing downloop transiting I pull it with front hand. Does it make a difference?
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 10 күн бұрын
It does make a difference, but in the beginning it's not as important. Have a look at part 2 and 3 over there I do answer the question with an example. In short: you want to pull your landing loop to the opposite side of your front foot, example: I land left foot forward, then I whould loop the kite to the right with my right hand. This helps with the stability on the landing.

@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Roumen. I'm happy that you enjoy the video and thanks a lot for your support 🤙 With a 70 degree angle towards the wind I mean that you should edge hard upwind towards the wind. Crosswind (riding direction) would be 0 degrees, so 70 degrees towards the wind is almost straight in to the wind. Hope this helps.

Hi mate thank you for the blogs you produce on how to kite surf I am.doing down loop transition turns but I haven't picked up the courage to jump and loop,is this a normal feeling for every one ,or am just a scarred soul ,that lacks confidence I riealy want to do one but my brain say no and i say yes I am confused i think once I do one I will be fine just with the transition jump and down loops when you are riding to the right then pull a jump and then when to go back to the left ,you always pull with the front hand at the 12oclock to downloop it back the other way to keep on riding forward out of the transition yes and when you pull the jump does it have to be at 12 o'clock when you downloop for less pull when riding off and obviously with the front hand .
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk Жыл бұрын
Loops can be scary as the kite builds up a lot of power when done wrong. But if your kite is at 12 and you're not being pulled up the power should always be manageable. Have a look at other heli loop tutorials and give it a try in light winds.

Does it matter which side of the bar you push down on to initiate the Downloop? For instance the video shows you going towards shore with right hand forward. Do you pull down on the bar on the right (front hand) or left side (back hand) to Downloop? Does it matter? TY
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk Жыл бұрын
In this case it does matter. If I would pull on the back hand I initiate a kiteloop which might give me some lift up that pulls me off the water. When I pull with the front hand the kite does a downloop that just pull sme forward instead of up.

What would you say is better for kite loops 8m xr7 or 9m gts6
@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 2 жыл бұрын
The GTS will loop with more power and speed. It will be more critical how you steer your kite to come down soft. The XR loops a bit slower and has less pull. This kite makes it easier to time your downloop and have a soft landing. So for beginners I would say it's easier on the XR. But I prefer the feel of the GTS

@stevenakkersdijk
@stevenakkersdijk 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mo-zv5yc The lines from the Sensor 3 bar do "stretch" more than the ones from the pro. But as you see in the video link I posted above they're correctable. You can also adjust the lines by attaching them to a solid object, and then pull hard on the shortest line to make it longer. Like that you should be able to get them all at the same length again. The lines can become unequal if you often do loops to the same side, so I always recommend looping both sides to keep everything equal.
