I think it would be cool if we get more epilogue/sequel movies like DSOD, but for each series. Would love to see what the GX gang is up to. What team 5ds is up to. And so on. Give them all new cards and etc.

It was reveal that in GX they got an offscreen Tournament to decide the new king of games and Judai won it. That's why he can be consider a KoG. 5D's already ended well, we don't need further content (even Duel links are not get so in depth to continue their story like every other serie). ZeXal we need to see Yuma/ZeXal vs Don Thousand with Number 99 Utopia Dragonar summoning Caos Number 62 and Chaos Number 32. In Arc-V we need to see Yuya vs Yusho (which was thought to happen, so that in Legacy of the duelist we have this duel programmed to be played) AND we also need to see Yuya vs Yuzu to get a conclusion between Zarc and Ray. Vrains is already following ahead in the Duel Links, so we don't need something new either.

I think it's more likely that the 9th show will be the third Rush Duel anime (since each yugioh anime is part of an "unofficial" trilogy). The 25th anniversary announcement is probably going to relate to anniversary celebrations for Duel Links, Master Duel, and new card product for TCG/OCG - probably Dark Magician or Blue-Eyes support. Keep in mind the 25th anniversary is referring to the 1999 release of the OCG and not the manga's 1996 start or the anime's 2000 start (not counting season 0). If anything, I think Yugioh 10 will be the one to keep an eye on. If Yugioh 9 lasts for 2 years and starts early 2024 - then that means the 10th show will start early 2026. Not only would the 10th show be the start of a new "unofficial" trilogy - but notably the 10th show would also align with the manga's 30th anniversary. That'll be a very interesting year to keep an eye on.

A reboot is usually for an anime that really needs one because the original got cut short or didn't follow the story of the manga. Duel Monsters may have had filler but it followed the manga up until the end and it got the DSOD movie to fix that. I would love to see a sequel movie to Yugioh GX though. Jaden needs more love, and I'm sure Konami would just love to make more HERO monsters

Smooth out the continuity errors between Season 0 and the rest of the anime, make the art style consistent across the board, incorporate all four movies (Season 0’s Movie, The Pyramid of Light, Bonds Beyond Time and Dark Side of Dimensions) as filler arcs, incorporate Anubis into the World of Memories arc, and also giving some of the supporting cast more to do (Melody, Tea, Tristan, Duke and Mai). I always find it quite amusing that many ask for a DM reboot (either more faithful to the Manga or involving all Summoning methods), but they are almost the same people who complain that DM receives too much support in several packages that leaves the other series with crumbs or they are left aside (It is understood by special events like the 25th Anniversary to give more love to DM, but it is that DM has always been the darling to receive support: the TCG only makes it more evident with its policy of denying the existence of the other series, even GX is not saved) Having a reboot or something DM focused would only make it more apparent that Yu-Gi-Oh lives on nostalgia and would only make the issue of DM Decks getting support and more support in packages that don't belong to them worse (not even good support for the top). Not to mention the comparisons that could be made between the new DM and the old DM: where one is better than the other or that the new one does not surpass the original one for various reasons.

A big problem with the idea of a DM reboot too is that this is an anniversary for the card game and not the anime at an event about the card game (and card game video games). It would be a very weird venue for anything anime-related. Also, I don’t think any of the English Yugioh accounts have pointed to this announcement/countdown, which they almost certainly would if it was something like a DM reboot

Illusion is most likely just adding in an old thing that was referenced in the manga and used in a few really early video games. I don't think it's really an indication of a reboot any more than any other legacy support adding in old anime/manga exclusive cards would be. Even if it were meant to be a tie-in with an anime, Konami would probably much prefer if they could launch Illusion at the same time as the new anime rather than at least half a year before. There might be discussions for a new Master Rule anime coming up in the pipeline, though, with how the card game has wrapped up both of their longrunning lore archetypes (and in Visas' case it was kinda rushed) and while Diabelle might be a new one (although she also could just be a one and done) if she does get a lore run she seems more "compact" in the storyline design that would make keeping that going across packs take up less space. It might indicate that Konami is intending on a new anime if they're clearing space in the packs for new headlining cards.

I would be awfully nervous about a DM reboot just for the very reason you just stated Dylan! We're not even a year removed from Takahashi's passing, and for Konami to possibly come out and say, "We're rebooting Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters", I feel that would really rub alot of the fandom the wrong way, especially in Japan, particularly after that great send off movie DSOD. The problem with a possible sequel is, it could end having the "Dragonball GT" effect where it might have alot of great ideas and cool moments, but ultimately not living up to the expectations the original series set. Personally I would like it if some of the other Gallop shows got a stand alone movie, particularly GX, 5D's, and Zexal, because we really don't know whats happens to the respective casts of those shows post final episode, kinda give them a proper send off as well!

For GX I can’t think of a good movie since the show resolved perfectly.The only thing that works for 5Ds without ruining the ending and the bright future is either a feel good Rocky type film or a Bardock Father of Goku type film with shades of hope of the Future Trunks special.

The only way 5Ds can have a movie without ruining the thematic elements and ending is a Kaiba level character/personality for a villain, a Bardock father of Goku type movie or a Rocky type movie.

(Yuugi Ou means Game King; title of the series) is about the Millennium Items and within the Items is the spirit of the Pharaoh, who goes by Yami Yugi. Yami Yugi as stated by Takahashi is Yugi's "henshin" (transformation). Yami Yugi is the "Hero" and "Game King" who defeats villains playing games.

The dark side of dimension decks are very incomplete so they have to get them out somehow or abandon them which is unlikely to happen since they did get reprinted not too long ago. A follow up movie is not too out of the question when you think about it.

I don't think we'll ever get anything DM-related without Takahashi here. If anything they could animate Yugioh R since it's a completed manga. What I would like to see is a mini series that features new duels between characters from all of the series showcasing new cards for them that were released after their shows ended. This could also be a chance to include brand new cards for these characters. This would be like the live voice actor duels Konami does occasionally. There doesn't need to be much of a story. The characters could just be meeting up for a duel, or it's the final round of a tournament. Alternatively, they could use Duel Links as a platform to have characters from different series duel each other in dream matches. This would also make for a good way to let characters use summoning mechanics from outside their shows, like Mai Synchro Summoning Cyber Slash Harpie or Yusei Link Summoning Junk Connector. And with Rush Duels getting added to Duel Links, you could have DM characters even Rush Duel. Many of Yugi's classic cards have been made into Rush cards and Gaia the Fierce Knight is getting a bunch of original cards in the new booster pack. A Blue-Eyes starter deck with a Blue-Eyes Maximum is coming out in the fall, so Kaiba would have a deck. There's a bunch of new Harpies and a Maximum that Mai could use, and a bunch of Joey's cards have been made into Rush cards with Time Wizard coming soon. I think Yugi meeting Yuga and learning to Rush Duel would be awesome to see. The two of them would get along great since Yugi became a game designer after DSOD. Gundam did a KZbin mini series a few years ago set in the Gundam Build Divers' VR world and featured AI-powered dream battles between characters from different main series Gundam anime, and it was really cool.

I do think that konami work on yugioh anime as trilogy : the Original trilogy (DM, GX, 5DS), the Extra Deck Trilogy (ZEXAL, ARCV, VRAINS), and we will certainly got the final for the "Rush Trilogy" (SEVENS, GO RUSH, YGO 9). However as you said Kazuki Takahashi saddly passed away a year ago. It's simply a personnal opinion, but I want them to work on a serie that will be like a "tribute". As you said, it will be too difficult to work on a reboot of DM especially since the released of darkside of the dimension. But What makes Takahashi's work so famous around the world is the anime, which is way different than his originial manga and he really get involved in lots of the spinoff creation. Therefore i do think that doing something on the anime series of yugioh as a tribute, a final love letter to an amazing man, could be really really beautiful for every yugioh fan.

It's not that I don't think it would be good or that it wouldn't do well, it's that there's already season 0, which they didn't really finish. Then after season 0, they did DM which ended up finishing all the way through, then they had Bonds Beyond Time and DSOD (Ik DSOD is only related to the manga) after. Don't think it will be a reboot , there is a new archetype of cards with a new magician and guess what , the new Magician have 2500 Atk just like the main protagonists Magician cards usually do . The new archtype is Egyptian themed and as been mentioned in the very first Yugioh manga volumes . This is just speculation but its possible that if there will be a new anime it will bring back Egyptian themed cards for the protagonist and might have a connection with the original Yugioh

As much as I'd love a complete retelling of the manga, one of the biggest problems that wasn't mentioned is that a big chunk of the manga doesn't have the card game that all the companies involved want to shell. Would a potential reboot adapt these chapters faithfully? Just adapt the ones that are absolutely necessary and then skip to Duelist Kingdom? Add anime original duels to the opening chapters or adapt some of the early games into duels? It feels like we'd run the risk of another technically incomplete adaption, even if it ended up more faithful. I actually love the idea of modernizing the duels and giving the character decks new supports - It would give a new element of surprise in an otherwise more faithful adaption, but I can't help but think that Konami USA would absolutely *love* the chance to nostalgia bait new BEWD or Dark Magician support cards for a generation or so.

@@Diamondr11Blue I’ve been thinking about it, I think I’ll watch Arc-V soon. But I’ve heard that the use of some of the legacy characters was poor. Once I watch more of Arc-V, I’ll see what I could do better than in that series for my reboot idea in terms of the use of legacy characters.

⁠@@superstitch5618 arc v uses jack atlas pretty well, but that’s it. honestly and it’s because he has a lesson the main character, yuya needs to learn. they used his character to develop yuya. the other legacy characters aren’t given the same treatment at all. i’d imagine it you wanted to make better legacy characters, you should continue that trend. sylvio would develop into a less selfish person from crow, shay would learn that not every person is his enemy from kite, zuzu could realize she needs to take care of herself before she can take care of others from alexis, so on. or, that’s how i think they could use the legacy characters better anyway, literally anything you suggest would probably end up better then how tacked on they felt in the last season.

I’ll try my best to handle the legacy characters well, and they would also give me the opportunity to experiment with different character dynamics, like a rivalry between Joey and Chazz for example. Also, I do know that in Arc-V, there’s a big dimensional war, but for my reboot series, there’s no dimensional war as it set in one unified world.

I don't think fitting newer cards into the legeacy character decks would be too difficult. The old deck building theory, as it were, of the show would actually lend itself well here: a checkmix deck in terms of archetypes that represent the duelist in some way, but there is a significant monster(s) to that duelist. They could reintroduce to the characters by using retrained cards that already exisit. For instance, lets say Joey still wins Red-Eyes from Rex in Duelist Kingdom, perhaps he changes Baby Dragon to Red-Eyes Baby Dragon and Gearfried to Red-Eyes Gearfried in battle city. Yugi could have a varient of his deck that incorperates a second copy of Dark Magician after beating Arcana. Therefore allow Yugi to show small Dark Magician deck combos, perhaps showing one of the XYZ momsters. Then as the series evolves they could introduce new cards as they go. Perhaps new support for the cards they pick up in Battle City, or whole new cards that the characters discover on their own.

If they were to do that, I feel like it might work if they did a Dragon Ball Z/ Dragon Ball Super route where the reboot would actually be another filler arc Personally I would love to see Yu-Gi-Oh! R be implemented where Yako Tenma has the same intentions only except he thinks Pegasus is dead but later finds out he's actually alive but was in critical condition before making a full recovery and putting a stop to it. Or just be manga accurate and promote it as such in the trailers

I totally understand what you are saying man, I really enjoyed your talk and I do agree with what you are saying. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I myself love OG Yu-Gi-Oh! more than the others. and DSOD was a great conclusion, it was my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! movie. and I personally don't think that the OG needs a reboot, either. However... here is an interesting thought that I wanted to share. Okay so maybe not a reboot, but a remaster. Keep the original characters, their personalities, cards, etc. have a new story and please let these old school characters use the newer support cards that came out for the old decks after the OG was said and done. I'm talking white stone of ancients, king of dragons, blue eyes alternative ultimate dragon, etc. for Kaiba. the dark magicians, dark cavalry, quintet magician etc. for Yugi. Red eyes darkness metal dragon, black stone of ancients, redeyes archfiend of lightning etc. for Joey. cyber slash harpie and whatnot for Mai etc. etc. etc. I think that would be a great idea and maybe eventually give them new cards say something happens to their old cards and they're forced to get new ones, sort of building off your idea there. what do you think? anyone else maybe?

Now what would be sooooo cool. Is a multiverse type story where it’s duel monster cast but change a bunch of stuff about the characters history and decks. In this universe yugi goes to duel academy. And kaiba lives in the satellite district.

If they were to reboot the original Yu-gi-oh, I would've had Serenity appear much earlier in the Yu-gi-oh Battle City storyline. I personally would've had Serenity not know much about Duel Monsters, and her wanting to know more about the game so she could supporter her brother (Like how a scene in which Joey is dueling someone. Tea and Serenity is watching the game, but Serenity is 100% lost on what's going on). Tea then teaches Serenity about Duel Monsters (this would be the C storyline). By the end of Battle City, Serenity understands Duel Monsters. By the 3rd season, Serenity decides she wants to duel so she could duel alongside her brother (there could be a tag-team duel in which Joey and her duel together).

Yeah. I honestly don't see a Reboot happening for mostly the same reasons. I wouldn't 100% discount it because I can see Konami releasing cards based on the original Shadow Games in the TCG. Like maybe they release Hirutani's gang as Beast Warrior monsters, or release an "Ammit" archetype for Shadi. It would not be too out there. IMO, I'll agree with you that it'll most likely be a TCG Product. Something like the "History Archive Collection" but more high profile and marketed as an anniversary product seems likely to me. That said, personally I hope for an OCG Structures seasonal adaptation. Something that goes on for only 12-24 episodes, but has high quality animation.

I think people really forget about the little side manga that was made that takes place between battle city and Millenium season which is yugioh R and focus on the wicked gods think about it it’ll be a new story but still have have the old characters it could even be 26 episodes too it wasn’t that long anyways

I wish that they'd pull a Dragonball Super and that there was a DSOD sequel series that was set after DSOD and set before GX. Joey and Kaiba are the main characters. Joey goes pro. Joey is forced to team up with Kaiba to duel a new Big Bad. Kaiba doesn't like the idea because of how he's always viewed Joey as a lesser duelist but he realizes there's no way around it as Yugi is gone or missing. Maybe they have to rescue him. Of course, Joey and Kaiba fuse their signature dragons. You get to see Yugi and Joey duel together and make Red Eyes Dark Dragoon as well as fuse Summoned Skull and Dark Magician. We get to see Joey fuse Red Eyes with all his other staples and create new cards we've always wanted to see but never got the chance to. Perhaps they hold another tournament for old times sake and duel against each other at the end and finally gets his respect from Kaiba. We get to see Joey end up with Mai, who Kaiba is with, and Yugi and Tea get together. The endless possibilities. It would be absolutely amazing and it would be nice to see it dedicated to the creator, Kazuki Takahashi. I feel like he would have signed off on such a project. Studio Gallop needs to pick this up. This seems like a proper send off to the other characters than what we got.

i don't like the concept of reboots. Regardless of which popular show is rebooted I think reboots are a bad idea in general not for the people who make them because reboots of popular ips makes them a quick easy buck but my point still stands. If I want to watch any version of a show I will just watch the original version.

I hope that the project has nothing to do with Duel Monsters since the story has been concluded so I don’t think it would make sense for the project to be a reboot series but I think it could be another Yugioh series reboot or some other project. Maybe the project could be the Yugioh movie that was going to be made but it got scraped.

You want Duel Monsters, an alternate version of Takahashi's story to not be touched since it has concluded, but also want to dig up a movie (Yu-Gi-Oh! VS GX) that literally got cancelled by Takahashi, who was working on the story of the film, because he didn't want Yami Yugi to return. The movie then got reworked into the plot of Season 2 of GX and had Yugi and Yami Yugi return at the end of the series. The contradictory logic here is to waste time and money?

It’s a bit similar to Nickelodeon continuing the SpongeBob series without Stephen Hillenburg, except Hillenburg didn’t want any reboots in the first place…

Personally the only way I see a sequel to DM happening is if it's Boruto, focusing on the children of the OG cast giving them the leeway to have some just carry on their parents deck and others having new one's or have the parents duel to The only way I see a "reboot" happening is if it's "DM Brotherhood" no filler, just a straight up adaptation of Kazuki's manga in all it's glory, but running alongside the standard Rush anime 4:30 Illusion is just a type not an archetype, and an easy counter point is that Yusei didn't use Psychics and and Yuys didn't use Wyrms, the example is just 1/3 I think it's most likely going to be card game related, either Master Rule 5, a new mechanic, or a new format

Another thing to clarify, this is the card game's anniversary, not the anime. We got bbt in the 10th anniversary of the anime and dsod in the 15th, so I don't think we will be getting any kind of anime or movie until the jump festa

Another reason aspect for each spinoff is to introduce a new summoning mechanic from the Extra Deck, and I can't really see the Yu Gi Oh DM reboot introducing a new never before introduced Summoning mechanic from the Extra Deck. Maybe finally adding Rituals in to the Extra Deck I Guess? Which is highly unlikely what would be the point of that? then the next option is to some kind of weird Ritual Fusion hybrid summoning mechanic? But again highly unlikely. As side from those I can't really see them introducing any new Extra summoning mechanic, and by doing so it just would feel like Dual Monsters any more. it would just feel like a Yu Gi Oh anime with Dual Monsters characters in it. Which brings out the old fashion complaint of the creators changed too much of the original material and it's not the same and not only it's not the same but also it's not the thing and in this case it's not the Dual Monsters that they grew up with Blah.....blah.......blah...... I think if you at least now of the former CW Arrowverse you know what I'm talking about, as they changed a lot events and stories and what have you from the comics. Such as their version of Crisis On Infinite Earths. It was basically a Easter Egg Feast. Anyways my point is it would be really risky to Reboot any Yu i Oh Anime, specially with Dual Monster. Which I would imagine wouldn't go well with us that have been there since the very beginning or us in the TCG.

Makes sense yugi would use an illusion deck. There’s even a retrain of Befamont as well as it’s fusion materials. Possibility having there bigger fusion as a sort of secondary ace monster. I just hope they use other mechanics and don’t just stick to fusion and ritual monster. Except pendulum…we don’t need to see that again.

I hope they give DM the Baki treatment. Turn it into a Netflix series and start from the Season 0 portion. This will entertain old fans as well as bring in new fans who are unaware of Yu-Gi-Oh's Horror roots. Of course updating things to be more modern. I could see it working.

I think at the very least, a reboot of just the Duelist Kingdom arc would be really nice because they can show an updated version of it that plays by the actual game rules. Every other arc stands up as is imo.
