@@RoadandRacetv no upgrades just routine maintenance. As you noted its a stock car with no crazy mods. This was my daily driver and my insurance was already high enough! Never tracked it. Its funny, just a few days before i found your channel I thought 'I wonder what happened to my old Nissan'. Found some mot history site and saw it was still going. Then researching the 986S i landed on your excellent channel and there it was. A few weeks after I bought it mid 2007 the clutch failed and I had that done just before the warranty expired. Apparently there was some issue with the flywheel so that got done as well. Was at the dealership for about 8 weeks whilst that got resolved. Other than that I had 6-7 years of reliable, low expense motoring. The cyclops thing was in when I bought it. You may also have noticed a switch under the steering wheel to the right where the previous owner appeared to have had some air horns wired up. If that switch was set wrong it would disable the standard horn and fail the mot. Those silver vent covers were coming off when I had it (glue worked but not forever) and the boot lift struts occasionally exhibited the problem you made a video about (but only on cold days). Family meant I had to get something more practical so traded it in for a people carrier. A sad day. Missed that V6 growl ever since. Now in a position where I'm looking for a fun car in addition to my daily so who knows I might own one again soon. This or a 986S anyway.

I’ve been planning out how I want to do my exhaust set up for my 2015 CR-V (2015-2016 had the 2.4L k24w1 and I feel like it’s somewhat a better engine or like, a better engine option for the crvs, for the 2017 model year and onwards they use the 1.5L turbo, and compared to the original 2.4L k24w1, the 1.5L turbo makes a whopping FIVE more horsepower than the 2.4L. That’s unbelievable, they’ve really come a long way. Anyways, I’m thinking of, Stock cylinder head -> Custom built (with attention to detail and the help of my uncle who’s an experienced welder, many people have said he knows how to weld anything (figuratively)) catless, straight pipe downpipe, I’ll have to figure out the O2 sensor situation that would happen because of that -> 3” diameter piping from the downpipe to -> high flow 3” In/Out catalytic converter -> 3” diameter piping from HF catalytic converter to -> 3” In/Out straight through resonator, or maybe two of them -> 3” diameter piping from resonator(s) to -> single exit exhaust because the way the underbody of the 2015 crv is, I don’t think there’s a logical or possible way of having dual exit, ESPECIALLY not TRUE dual exhaust -> 3” In/Out Flowmaster 953047 super 40 series muffler. With having all of that increased pipe diameter and stuff, I’m worried I won’t have enough back pressure or something and my car might mess up, but if I just had that set up, and then maybe swapped stuff here and there wherever improvements can be made, it might be a pretty decent exhaust. But I don’t know. I’m trying to see how far I can get as a college kid. I’ve barely done anything to it so far. I have a cold air intake that I’ve routed, using a flexible plastic hose, down into my front bumper and the filter is right inside the opening of my driver side fog light housing. I removed my fog lights, I still have them, but anyways the air is going through the opened fog light housing hole thing, and going straight into the cone air filter. Then I have it gold heat wrapped (I don’t show it off to anyone so it doesn’t really act as a cosmetic thing in my case) and it runs from there up through where the stock air intake resonator, filter box, pipe, etc used to be, and runs into the throttle body, and I put a throttle body spacer between the TB and the intake manifold. Ooo a spacer, wow so much horsepower (no), and then on my exhaust I have the flowmaster. And I have vents put inside of my hood, originally it was because the AEM intake that I ‘altered’ to make my current intake was a short Ram, positioned inside of the engine bay, sucking up heat. So I figured, “I need to find a way to extract heat”. They still serve a purpose though I guess. I feel a little better seeing the heat waves rise out of the vents when it’s cold, only seeing waves above the vents meaning most of the escaping heat is probably coming out of the vents, other than that, there’s no ‘mods’. My headass spray painted my calipers red, and I’m thinking of how to get the paint off if possible because I think I look like a ricer dumbass because of them, I’m also doing some thinking about getting new wheels, which I think I’d get darkish bronze, maybe black lip, 19” or 20” wheels but I’m waiting until it’s time for me to get new tires put on my car so I’ll maybe have enough thought and decision making and money at that point, I’m thinking a price range of maybe $275 or more, or $300 or more per wheel, I want to get something a little more expensive than my stock 18” touring wheels, my crv trim is a touring btw, but mostly something that won’t implode and break going down the interstate, because then I’ll be modding my car in the afterlife, anyways yeah. Here is my essay.
@brandondickie34562 жыл бұрын
The car’s color is urban titanium metallic. I think it’s kind of a weird ass color and I’m not sure what even goes with it. It’s not like nardo grey or white or black, or gunmetal grey, etc, it’s like gunmetal grey’s crackhead cousin that gunmetal grey doesn’t talk to anymore. I figured a dark bronze might work, I looked at a few styles of black wheels and it was about as hideous as I am. I’m having a tough time figuring out the best color wheel to go with that car paint color.

@@RoadandRacetv what did your insurer say about the upgrades and remap?
@lshsparks11553 жыл бұрын
In fairness i wouldn't say the orignal cats are shoddily made far from it they have performed reliably for 15+ yrs underneath a car in a country with a fairly damp climate for most of the year and gritted winter roads. Yes the orginals look in a bit of a state now the thin heat shields rust badly but the Cats underneath just have surface corrosion and are still solid (probably also pass a uk MOT from cold :-) ) . The 350z was competitively priced at launch and the Z ethos was always an affordable spots coupe every manufacturer has to balance cost spec decisions to have a viable product. Anyway i doubt the stock exhaust was a cheap item back in tbe day... dual manifolds, dual cats, a Y flexi pipe, mid box and large rear back box. Why do i say all this i own one....Do you work in insurance Grahame? Your question answered before your subsequent reply 😉 all the best. Good work there RR that garage is the envy of many folks i am sure 👍.

The large amount of additional spacing between the downstream o2 sensors and the piping will not only get you in trouble but will also trick your ECU into thinking the engine is producing better emissions than it actually is, which could prevent it from sensing problems which it would have with the OEM exhaust. I wouldn't trust this exhaust company

Let's be real here... with a second O2 sensor bung that long like that, of course you are going to pass emissions. There is no way that second O2 sensor is getting an accurate reading when it's that far away from the exhaust gas flow. Compare it to the location of the original, there is no comparison. With a O2 bung that long, might as well have gone with a test pipe. You'll pass emissions either way.
