the drummer "Bela B." from the german punk rock band "die ärzte", has been playing standing since the 90s. The aerobic outfits remind me a bit of "Eric Price - call on me" from the early 2000s. nevertheless, eskimo callboy is definitely one of my favorite bands with a great sound

Two things I never do... Watch ESC, and don't even think of voting on the German contestant :D (you already beat us at football all the time, so I wouldn't want to contribute to any other win)... But if Eskimo Callboy will be entered, I'd do both! About the song... This took two or three listens before I got into it, but I find with Eskimo Callboy the video makes it so much easier to love their songs at a first listen. It's like the song on it's own is 75% of the experience, and the video completes the 125%, if that makes sense. Loved the video (and song, don't worry), and I am going to be watching the VOD of the stream again. Thanks Tank for another fun reaction! #Tank4Tech !

Nico is the pretty boy that goes to the aerobics classes to pick up chicks. Kevin is the muscle head that goes to the weight room to compete with other guys. The song is a basically a duel between the two of them as to which is the better workout. Also, that transition from the first harsh vocal verse back to the chorus, perfection. Nico echos the same line "I want to feel it day and night", and the switch from heavy/harsh to synth/clean is so seamless you barely even notice that it happened. That blend is where they really stand apart.

EC are maybe are the next gen of music broadcasting. They understood perfectly how the fans communicate, and they integrated it to the full experience. Some musicians have started to think that albums aren’t that important since we have Spotify, singles are simply easier to produce, and keeps the audience happy every now and then. Albums are just a container of mixed quality songs. They are simply rolling out the good stuff as soon as it is ready. Maybe is a winning strategy right?
@ruma96873 жыл бұрын
Opinions are just opinions but to me nothing beats full albums with well considered track order, maybe a theme running through the album etc. And i have never cared about singles. But someone sees it in whole other way
@joaquinmartinez61273 жыл бұрын
@@ruma9687 a matter of taste indeed, but IMO certain genres prone to casual listening don’t need albums. Maybe progressive genres can benefit of conceptual albums, but EC are clearly casual listening, just have fun and go. But hey! There’s room for anyone here!
@Eluarelon3 жыл бұрын
I'm very much an album guy but you might have a point here. especially in times of streaming services more and more replacing CDs, vinyl etc. as the go-to place to listen to stuff, you don't need a full album all the time. I mean I still listen to them start to bottom even on spotify, but of course I also have playlists with single songs from different artists. Also the format lends very well to smaller works (like EPs); my favorite effort from 2021 most probably is Insomnium's EP that just had 4 awesome masterpieces on it that I can just listen to completely on my way to work. - this all said, if metal in general ever stops doing complete albums, I might stop listening to music again, because in my opinion, nothing beats having the full narrative of a well-composed full album.
@TankTheTech3 жыл бұрын
I'm also a big album person, but in the digital age we're in, it's definitely no accident that we're seeing more and more single releases from bands. Hell, the country music industry still releases full albums, but they put like 99% of their effort into releasing singles because radio rules country and everyone only cares about having that next #1 single.

Call On Me's video was full on inspired by the movie Perfect that Tank mentioned, but the kneeling leg extensions to work out the asscheeks is a shot that looks nearly 1:1 of one in the Eric Prydz music video amongst others; I also feel like their trying to enter this into the Eurovision Song Contest is their way of making it like when that was performed on Top Of The Pops to the point at which I thought that's where it was performed until I looked it up again... plus Call On Me was number one in Germany when it hit their Singles Chart in November 2004 and due to the popularity of its video they released an ærobics DVD as well called Pump It Up - The Ultimate Dance Workout which just can't be a coincidence LOL.

This music video instantly reminds me of "Eric Prydz - Call On Me" music video (it was a very popular song in Poland when I was teenager), I think this could be their inspiration. And the treadmill drummer reminds me of Rammstein's treadmill keyboard player (I think it was in Du Hast live where he was walking treadmill while playing keyboard). Edit: also the title reminded me of Danzel - Pump It Up, but I don't think it's referenced here.
