Lots of people complain about this album not being "heavy". I think it's quite heavy. They just balanced the sound differently. I suspect it's gonna pound live when you can feel the bass and drums in your chest.

With this album, Nightwish has fully reached maturity. Perhaps some fans are too attached to the edgy teenage years of Nightwish and that's why they don't like it. Also, you HAVE to do a double reaction to How's the Heart. Both the studio version and the live acoustic.

And the timing would be perfect if babies ever came when they are due. I know that they don't from experience and delivered one of ours in our livingroom as he shot out before the midwife made it out to us. Any quicker and I'd have needed a catcher's mitt! By the time she arrived, he was happily nursing, but it was good that she was there to make sure that the placenta was complete and put a proper clip on the cord.

Maturity? Tuomas ego is so big he had to use nightwish name to make a 2nd cd where he shows what he's capable of composing. It's too poppy now.
@SilverCreek243 жыл бұрын
@@matiasbelmonte4576 I think the second CD fits perfectly under the name Nightwish. :) And, Tuomas asked his band mates if it was ok to release the song on the album. Also, Floor and Troy perform on it. Lastly, it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. You won't have to suffer because of something like it for a second time. ;) This is not the first time Nightwish has changed their sound. When Marko joined the band there were many people who hated him and Nightwish's new sound in general. Some people didn't like that Tarja started to sing differently. ^_^

I have to say that this album was a bit of a disappointment to me. It may be a musical masterpiece, but I have never played any instrument or studied any music and I don't know how to sing so all that technical stuff just passes by without me noticing it. I guess don't have enough knowledge about music to appreciate this album. It's not a bad album but to me not their best...
@oolillemyoo40993 жыл бұрын
@VJScope And that’s totally OK! As long as you go about it maturely, and don’t just shit all over it, like some “fans” do, just because it wasn’t their personal favourite :) I think some fans are just sorta spoiled by nightwish (not you) and expecting each new album to be their favourite - but with how many bands is their newest album every fans favourite, above the beloved older ones? Just a thought :) PS: I’m trained in classical music (flutist) and I love the challenge of the new album, for my ears, so to say. But it was not an “easy listen” the first few times, in the same way as some of their older music. I can see how it can be a bit overwhelming if you’re not versed in classical music :)

Hey Tank, I need to thank you. I found you through a Jinjer 'Pisces' reaction, and stayed because I loved your style and your knowledge. I've always avoided Nightwish, but because of you, I finally decided to listen to them via one of your reactions ... I listened to the first, then eagerly gobbled up another, then another. Then I decided to follow along your Nightwish journey with you as I was hooked.Army Thank you from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to Nightwish. I now consider myself to be a fledgling member of the Nightwish Army, have a ticket to their virtual concert in May and am working on obtaining their back catalogue. Your sir, are a star 🌟. Urgh this is good. Tribal is gonna be so fun, hoping my internet doesn't die again so I can stream your reaction! I started listening to Nightwish way back in 2003 and got a lot of flack from other metalheads for it too. Like it bordered on bullying. One guy loudly made fun of me and then later pulled me aside to tell me he actually also really likes Nightwish but he doesn't want to admit it to his buddies listening to Norweigian black metal. So there's definitely some weird machismo thing and Nightwish being "girly" or some lame shit like that.

I can relate to a lot here!! Where I live Symphonic/Power Metal are shunned genres that were never really respected. Back in 2000 when me and my friends went to the Wishmaster Tour we were called posers by the Death/Black TRVE KVLT crowds. Ballerina Metal as some on Banger TV call it!! It changed a bit with time but Nightwish were never the goût du jour. Tribal rocks!

This song has so many little things musically that you can’t catch everything in one take. There are so many quick drum bits that Kai does and the off beat/staccato riffs Emppu doing all the while killer stuff from the keys/choir/symphony in background. Then Floor just being Floor. Love what you said about the bass playing...that’s why I love both Marko and Emppu...they are both outstanding players but just play the way the song needs ...no more ..no less. Also, as a dad to a beautiful little girl myself...good luck brother...you’re in for a wonderful ride. They have you wrapped day 1. Congrats again to you and your wife. Hope things go smoothly. 🤘

Also wanted to say I think the people who have a negative opinion of this album probably are thrown off because it's a much more proggy album which typically means more complex musically at the cost of making the music less catchy and accessible in general.
@justdave96103 жыл бұрын
@Umbra Wraith I probably worded this poorly and will say that Nightwish has often done music that's complex and often structured their songs outside of what you typically hear in most popular music but I still stand by my opinion that this album more prog than usual. That being said, I respect your opinion and have said before that imo their two best albums are probably the ones with annette despite her being the least favorite singer in general (also both just my personal opinions) but I personally really love the new album even though I'll admit some of the songs took multiple listens before they truly grew on me and before I could appreciate the songs fully but that's just my personal opinion and experience

folk complaining about this are the same type of folk who insist that Metallica or Maiden evolving, etc. I guess every band should be like Slayer and half ass out the same album over and over again? People are of course entitles to their opinions, even if some are blatantly stupid (Adding Troy ruined them! Now they are a folk band WAHHHH!), but for sheer quality, creativity, this is top 3 among Nightwish albums, and is actually more consistent in quality then greats like Once or Century Child. This is up there with Imaginearum as the most underrated/appreciate albums from Nightwish.

Hi Tank, great reaction. As always :) You are absolutely right. Nightwish are the absolute masters of symphonic metal. There are so many allusions to literature and movies etc. hidden in this song. I tried to write down everything that came to my mind spontaneously....it's a long list: 1. winds will be named is an allusion to Patrick Rothfuss' book The name of the wind. Which Toumas has read. The Kingslayer trilogy. 2. to fallen stars, to there and back might be a reference to J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. Bilbo writes a book with the title There and back again. 3. Tír na nÓg (Old Irish: Tír na n-Oc - tʲiːɾˠ n̪ˠə ˈn̪ˠoːɡˠ freely translated about Land of Eternal Youth) is one of the most famous mystical places of the afterlife in Irish-Celtic mythology. 4. A pale blue theatre stage: our earth. 5. Something wicked this way comes is a quote from the first scene of the fourth act of the drama "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare. 6. The title of the song itself: In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pan is the god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, nature of mountain wilds, rustic music and impromptus. 7. Snow Glass Apples is a short story written by Neil Gaiman, a retelling of Snow White. 8. The Sea Lady is a story written by H.G. Wells. 9. Maybe the line an ape in awe before a door is an allusion to Arthur C. Clark's 2001 Space Odyssey when the Great Monolith appears But I am not sure about that. This song is pure genius...as always. 10. Keystone Earth is a reference to The Dark Tower series from Stephen King. It is quite possible that I do not have everything or that I am wrong in some points. Anyone who can contribute something is welcome to correct me :) Please keep up the good work. And I wish you both all the best for the birth of your baby ;)

Yes Tank. I'm pretty sure some of the so called "true metal heads" dislike Night Wish exactly because they think this genre is not heavy enough. Same thing goes with power metal. And then there are people who does not think it's okay to use any kind of backing tracks at LIVE shows. I just can't see Night Wish having a world tour where they would drag 150 people to every single LIVE show (also some child choir members ect ect) if there are like 1 or 2 shows every day for weeks. Some people might not understand reality well enough. How ever to me this is the most impressive Night Wish song so far. It's like brain music... so demanding and thoughtfull. By simply put this is just insanely professional and mature music.

This may be my favorite from the new record. This one is about unlocking the human imagination. Many references to stories, movies, literature, and mythology. Pan is the Greek god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, nature of mountain wilds, rustic music and impromptus, and companion of the nymphs. This record is music for adults. Very intellectual and thought provoking. Best wishes for a easy birth for your wife and hopes for a very healthy baby! 🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶✌🙏🙏🙏👍 Ran -The Scandinavian sea Goddess. Ran represents the wild aspect of the sea. She sometimes appears as a mermaid. Idunn - She is the Goddess of youth and springtime. Her name means “ she who renews,” and has several alternative spellings including: Indun, Iduna and Idhunna. Inga or Ingrid? Or maybe Astrid - "Divinely Beautiful"?
