Fun fact about the pipes: A musician once told me that an important difference between the Scottish pipes and the Uillean pipes is that the former were meant for war times, to scare and intimidate the opponent before a battle, whereas the latter were pipes meant for peace times - you can only play them sitting down. Love how much you love Troy, and how emotional you get over Folk songs. :D

Fun fact - this was the first Nightwish concert for Floor's parents, and she was so nervous about breaking up if she looked at them she had to make sure she knew the exact-sight line to avoid from all parts of the stage so as to avoid an emotional "moment". On Troy and his Uilleann pipes - he has apparently played an active role in the development of the instrument to a full chromatic scale, meaning there is now a single Uilleann set that can play in any key. He seems o be one of those incredibly rare musicians that can just pick up and master just about any instrument with the minimum of instruction in how it works and a couple of hours practice.

Thanks once again, Tank, for a great reaction! If we're keeping with the Celtic theme, Harvest (no live video since it's from Human :||: Nature) and Last of the Wilds (instrumental, played live at Wacken) are probably your best bet. Otherwise, I'm going back to my request for Dark Chest of Wonders along with deep cuts. The downside to deep cuts is there aren't live versions for many of them. Bare Grace Misery, White Night Fantasy, and Live to Tell the Tale are all super deep cuts I personally enjoy without studio-cut live versions. The Kinslayer is another, but it has live versions from both Tarja and Floor, so it might be a better pick for you. It was written about Columbine, which is helpful to know when listening. Gethsemane has a live version with Floor, and I absolutely love the key work from Tuomas on it. I'll also echo my previous comment suggesting Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed just to round out the Tarja catharsis trilogy, but again, I don't think there's live versions.

Auri is recommended for more folk. In 2010 Tuomas had the idea to start a band with his wife as a singer and Troy. At Auri you can hear all the ingredients that he later throws into the big metal pot: folk, film and pop music. The debut album will be released in 2018. Thanks to Corona last month has been another mixed finish.

Weak Fantasy, the Tampere performance. For one, it's a banger. The second thing that makes it so meaningful for me personally, is the message within the lyrics. Not everyone will agree with that sentiment, but for me it's one of the more powerful Nightwish songs lyrically.

I really LOVE this song. It's very hard with Nightwish to pick favourites, but if I decided to be hipster/contrarian I might just pick My Walden, particularly for the incredible breakdown at the end (which really does NOT go on for long enough). Nightwish are at their very best during this song. Look how happy they are. You can see Floor's smile at the end. The word that springs to mind is "family". It's like they morph into a family folk band for the song...and that's awesome. If the last part of this song got stuck on loop I'd die happy.

Dead Boys Poem at Buenos Aires - Utterly beautiful Dark Chest of Wonders - Opening song at Wacken - Epic Stargazers at Tampere - Nice version of one of their older songs. The new Human : Nature stuff is wonderful, but because it all released this year, the only live stuff is an acoustic version of How's the Heart (which is phenomenal). But the album is so good you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't listen to it from start to finish in order. Sadly there is sweet f all for a roadie to react to in the lyric vids. Yes we all love Troy and his massive pipes, even the Finns have taken him to their heart. Uilleann Pipes has sometimes also been called "The Devils Pipes". I don't know exactly where but it's supposed to be an old Celtic Cross in Ireland, towards the West Coast I think. On that Cross you can see St Peter in the middle, dividing up people - who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. For those who go to Heaven thete is a person playing a Celtic Harp meeting them, and for those going to Hell - I think you can guess it - Yes there is a person playing the Uilleann Pipes meeting them. An old joke about the Uilleann Pipes is that it's the safest instrument in the world, because it has both a Safety Belt and an Air Bag. If you jump back to rhe classic concert at Wacken 2013 and play "Last Of The Wildes" you will see 82.000+ people headbanging to Troy playing his massive pipes. It's a purely instrumental song, no singing at all. (On my mobil so I don't have the link right now.) Cheers / B.

Had a look at the video and I changed my mind, you should NOT have a look and listen to this because you are going to crack up, at least during the first minute. I am not in any way an expert on the Uileann Pipes, but from what I understand it's an extremely difficult instrument to play. I have also seen somewhere that it's regarded as a "wild" instrument because of it's tendency to "jump away" and sound completely different to what the player intended. "While your lips are still red" is one of my favorite songs and it is defenitly an interesting one where Troy pulls out some more tricks out of his great bag of instruments =3

I think that "Ever Dream" will like you a lot, another epic song is "Last Ride of the day" both from Wacken 2013, enjoy!

Thanks Tank, great again, if you like Troy, not only playing but singing, you have to watch next Harvest, the lyric video....you will love it for sure, it is amazing.

The essential difference with bagpipes is they are blown. And for those who are unaware, the intro sung by Troy is in Welsh.

Love this song and great that such a band has incorporated Welsh into one of their songs - I just wish Troy’s pronunciation would have been a bit better. But hats off to him for having the balls to sing it - sounds great but I needed to read the lyrics to understand exactly what he’s singing. Brilliant nevertheless

In his public statement for leaving Nightwish, Marko talked about finding his Walden as his goal after leaving the band. So, in a way, this song is for Marko. Farewel brother Marko, the Army salutes you.

Bravo Nightwish! As my ancestry is 47% from the Northwestern UK and the rest from Western and Central Europe. So I understand how something inside ya feels at home listening to this kind of music! Just an FYI...I freekin' love Nightwish Wednesday! I cannot get enough of their music! Maybe there's some Viking in my blood...as I am one big a$$ guy...at 6'6" and 350 lbs! My dad used to tell all his buddies that I was the runt of the family!!! 😂😂😂😂
