A cooler 14 degrees start on the staffs/Worcestershire canal today. Instantly catching a pencil pike but 20 minutes later a boat put a swift end to that stretch. Unfortunately I also managed to snap the tip on my rod too 🤦🏻‍♂️. After a quick bodge repair I then traveled to a much higher stretch of the stour and had few fish out in immaculate condition. Once deep into the vegetation it felt more like 26 degrees than 14 and I was ringing wet with sweat. At this stage I called it and headed home.

Hi mate. Truly fantastic video. I'm gonna try lure pike fishing for the first time ever, this year. I'm a Stourbridge lad (62 now, I loved your Stourbridge Canal pike video) but I live in the Forest of Dean. I'm gonna give Gloucester canal a try (it's supposed to be pretty good) and will give the Stourbridge cut a go, next time I'm up visiting. These videos are exactly what I'm looking for and will, hopefully, show me the way to go! Subscribed :) P.S. I can remember fishing the Stewpony when I was in my early teens and the Stour was horribly polluted. It's lovely to see it looking so good and with plenty of fish :)

Hi Ivan, that’s great to hear and thanks for subscribing. Getting back in to it at 62, that’s awesome good on you. I have heard of the canal but never fished it. As for the pony, there’s some great sport to be had. The stour there is way better than it used to be but still getting highly dumped in

As long as it’s not tea bagging 😂😂, yeah the canal right down to stourport seems to have good perch sport. Unfortunately at the moment, I’m led to believe that there’s a big issue in stourport with oxygen levels and dead fish. The CRT have had to put aeration devices out and boaters have been turning their engines over to produce more oxygen in the water
@stuartday3232
@stuartday3232 3 жыл бұрын
@@BlackCountryPiker I prefer coffee to tea 🤣. Wow, I'd have thought the locks themselves would have provided a fair bit of aeration? But good to hear ye olde CRT are trying to do something about it.

Beautiful pikes out of beautiful rivers. How I wish in my country people and government actually cared about fishes and rivers. Instead rivers get straightened, riverbeds get covered in concrete, fish populations - eradicated. And even when the local authorities do not actively try to destroy all water fauna - there are always anglers who "fish for food", as a result there are barely any pikes bigger than "minimum size" of 50cm, anything that grows above 48cm gets caught and bashed with a club. It's a problem with the society that is egoistic and doesn't respect nature and also - anglers don't care about fun of angling, just food, food food. Goddamn man-monkeys :/ Greetings from Poland.

@@BlackCountryPiker At least I can always make myself feel better watching you catch some really nice fish :) I've switched to 2-10g rod, so even 50cm pike feels like a big catch, I guess there's always some way to cope as long, as there is anything left in the water. I have a few spots with nice fish left, but it's mostly perch (BTW I can absolutely recommend catching perch using 3g - de facto 4g - trout area rod, it's insanely fun).
