ROADSCHOOLING IN TEXAS : RV Full time w/9 kids

A huge part of why we decided to hit the road with our 9 kids and start traveling full time is that we knew that actually visiting historic sites and experiencing the world first person would deepen their appreciation and understanding exponentially. This is what some of us in the homeschooling community call Road-schooling. Road-schooling is hitting the road and educating your children through experiences and interactions with the world. After the kids see and learn things they might go home and investigate things further if they are interested and excited. It also fits into the category of Worldschooling or Unschooling. Check out what a day of road-schooling looks like while we're in Texas!

I loved what you said to your children about different belief systems after you left the cathedral. I think it's admirable that you're teaching them that there's more that different doesn't equal wrong when it comes to religions other than what you personally practice.

Ariana Conway yes, I'm catholic but I don't judge people on what they believe in. I've been told by people of different Christian denominations why my faith is wrong and I dislike that, we all love Jesus as Megan said. They are an awesome family!

We did 3 week camping trips with our 3 kids in the summer, all over the US. Lots of work for Mom, driving for Dad. Kids got to see almost all 50 states. Love nature now, and critters. Never regretted the sacrifices. It's what good parents do.

Meghan, you are such a great mommy. As a Catholic I really liked the way you explained our religion to your kids. When my kids were young one of the families we played baseball with told my child that he could not come over because we were Catholic and were not Christians. I love that you told your kids that while we practice differently we are all just trying to be good people. I adore your videos. I don't normally comment but I really want to thank you. Praying for a safe journey.

I don't know if this is possible or not. Maybe you can ask your US-based subs. Try taking your kids to more "unorthodox" educational sites - house construction sites, shipyards, car repair and restoration shops, fishing ports/fish markets, etc. Anyway, just a suggestion.

I homeschool/unschool all my kids till 8, just because I like them to be children, and not be put into education so young. However they go at 8 because the reality is, for my children to have jobs they want (in my case my boys would love to he doctors atm), that pay well, and go to university, they need to get good grades at school, so we. Put them in at 8 so that they learn all the required spec to pass their exams, to allow them to go anywhere they want. But that's just what works best for us 😂

Knorpp and South for sure! Really all I want for them is to be happy, good caring children, that's all that matters at the end of the day. I think we are both doing great jobs. need job not really, I'm just a bad typer, not used to using a smart phone. Maybe don't be so judgemental, my children are intelligent, and I'm actually a doctor as well, however I had to give up for my children.. So, I think I can homeschool my kids just fine ;)

Love your videos and exteme patience and love you show each and every one of your kids. Jut wondering how you handle eating out on your excursions with such a huge family. Seems like it would cost an arm and a leg for each meal and snacks, if you do them. I would have a terrible time budgeting feeding that many active children. Would love to see how you actually do it.Hugs for you and your gorgeous family. And the both of you are incredibly caring and veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy level headed.

Hi, New subscriber here! But I already love the channel. I've secretly been binge watching video after video that you all have posted! I love the idea of living in an RV while you all travel from state to state, that is pretty impressive, especially with 11 people! Also, I love that you guys put stickers on the back of the van and then fill in the map on the back of the RV when ever you guys get to a new state, such cool thing to do! But I do have a question. What was your guys' favorite state that you have been to? I live in Colorado and I love it here! Much love for all 11 of you from a new subscriber!

Your kids did an awesome job at being quiet and respectful in the cathedral. I have a question about child-lead home schooling. How do you make sure the kids learn basic reading and math if they don't want to study those things? Please know that I'm not being critical, just curious about how this method of learning works.

mabey once your kids leave home or you ever feel like going across to the other side of the world, you should come to New Zealand. You can hire caravans/campervans/RVs and there are sooo many incredible things to look at, from kapreanga which is at the top to Stuart island which is at the very bottem. It should take you less than a year, i think but I'm just guessing.

I really enjoy watching your family. You all seem to have great kids. One thing I am concerned about though is the fact that some of your children don't wear their seat belts property. If your kids don't wear their chest belt they run an extremely high risk of hitting their heads on the seat in front of them and getting a severe whip lash in a car accident. Hitting their heads on the seat in front of them runs a much greater risk of a traumatic brain injury than if they were wearing their chest belt. I am just trying to help, not be annoying. I hope you can understand. I am excited to see where you go next and what you will do. I wanted to ask how you chose an 18 month road trip versus a 1 or 2 year road trip. I am also interested to know what you might do after your RV trip comes to an end. :)
