Injora is finding its way into almost all our crawlers one way or another. The blue inserts are awfully stiff unless it's a heavier rig. We just started trying the green ones and they're far better for light to midweight crawlers. We're sold. Also they fit the new Toyos from Proline perfectly!

Great presentation Troy. I love how you always make a science experiment out of some of your product reviews. The biggest benefit to me for these gel inserts is that they keep the sidewall a bit more rigid than the foams and of course the lack of breakdown and deterioration you get from foams getting wet. The rollover with the foams is actually a good thing… that’s what the sidebiters on the sidewall are for. You are still getting good traction with the tread lugs on the sidewalls utilizing all the available tread on the contact patch. I have some 3D printers… but I’ll stick with foams. I think they wouldn’t hold up on a massive roller over. Would tumbling down a 10-20ft. hill rip up or break the plastic inserts on a heavy rig
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
Interesting thoughts! Let me take them one at a time. Sidewall: fun fact - I actually work in the 1:1 tire industry. I can 100% tell you with confidence that the sidewall is not there to accommodate rollover. With the way these tires are molded, it is similar in 1:10. Excessive rollover is never a good thing for traction. 3D printed durability: these Injora inserts are not 3D printed. They are molded from a very pliable material. There shouldn't be any durability issues. Also - as I showed in the video, I had 3D printed some inserts myself. It isn't from PLA or PETG. It is printed from TPU. These inserts have been through many miles (and many crashes) without any degradation. Don't over think this and hold yourself in a box! Go out there an experiment! If you already have a printer - then the file I used was free. Just buy some quality TPU material!

An interesting potential is wet performance. When the foams in my TRX4 get sopping wet from the river romp -- the whole rig get ALOT heavier naturally in a good loaction - - grip is improved, etc. It can be a doulbe edge sword though bogging down and eating batteries moving all that added weight. Everything ive been able to buy in brass I have on it, and then the rest is replaced with aluminum. The foams in my hyrax predator compound have had so much deflection on sidehills one tire actually came out of my beadlocks. Do you think there is enough flex in these inserts that I could put them around the inner beadlock ring plus about 1/4" for the weights? @RoadsideRC11 ай бұрын
Hard to go wrong either way. I LOVE to 3D print things, so plan to do more of that for testing as well. Spool of TPU: $20-30. 4 pack of these: $20 It is a toss up.

A spool of tpu could fit out multiple vehicles and let you tune the hardness through the number of walls.

I like 24th's, but interesting vid all the same. ????- I wonder if there's an additional difference with venting between these and foams. With venting on the tread face, foams still let the tire 'inhale and exhale'. I wonder if the non-foams block the vent holes when punched on the tread face, being they aren't porous like foam. Might be a cool test to see the difference in venting tread face vs side wall vs ???. Thanks Troy. Enjoyed you're style of vid and relaxed personal manner. I'll check your channel for 1/24th stuff. Cheers Bert the Weldor
@RoadsideRC8 ай бұрын
Hi Bert! So far, no issues with the venting. Seems at least 1 hole is always open. They recently released these same inserts in the 1.0" size. I am testing some now on my Ascent 18.

@@RoadsideRC Nice! I'll keep an eye out for it. I've got a DIY, no printing, no hi-tech idea for inserts that are pretty out of the box but easy for any 'no-budget' person to make. Just need to get to it and test.

I think there is a correlation with to much squish and lose of grip. you dont want the tire to deform and fold when moving you need the tire to bite and with those inserts the bite is harder then if it was softer.

I think the reason the first lot of snips didn’t work was that it was just sitting on the sniped parts, so if you remove the whole little piece it would work better.

When weighing those corner scales you should have installed all the same. Took the old foam and tires off because that's going to mess up your overall weight of the vehicle if you have two different types of tires on there and wheels

It really sucks but you are right for the money you can't go wrong and even if making yourself you just won't do it cheaper than China, ever. As far as unbiased videos I have always had a difficult time believing certain channels or people especially when they are directly compensated from those companies or sent free gear. They never seem to come up with anything negative to say about the product because they would 𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙋 getting anything from that company and others would hesitate to deal with them out of fear. Not saying that's you whatsoever just saying it's a thing..

Thanks! I have been part of multiple deals with companies. The good news - literally only 1-2 have ever pressured me to only say positive things. Actually, the more critical I am, usually the more appreciative they are! Seems the good ones really want the feedback.
