I just installed the sub frame bracing on my ND2 and the difference in feel is very noticeable. In a good way. My take is the car is not as tail happy as it was before and I don’t think the body roll is as extreme. The job is straightforward but took me longer than you tube leads one to believe. Of course this is the first car I have ever taken a wrench to. One note is the oil pan cover does not quite line up the same as stock resulting in the need to omit two bolts. The plan is to take a fox tail file to the two errant holes and enlarge them just a touch.

FINALLY, SOMEONE WHO MIGHT KNOW! What are those 2 tabs with threaded holes , pointing out off of the brace you are holding in the start of this video. Under the drivers side of the car under the seat (sort of) looks like there is a missing part on all factory builds I have seen. The two tabs on your part and two more under the car. WHAT IS THIS FOR ???? ANYONE KNOW ???

Any downside of putting braces? I'm worried on break in balance. Is too stiffen chassis would damage another parts? (the theory came from change in high grip tires on stock setup that would damage suspension parts or chassis)

Nope, there are no issues like that.

No downsides, it eliminates a lot of rattles, and loose feeling. I would say it’s more likely to make parts last longer.

Does the clearance change with the underbody?

The braces are about an inch lower clearance than the stock braces.

Hi J H, As far as we know the panels and covers are not compatible. They interfere with each other in some areas.

I guess I'm left considering what's more important on the ND then - my application is mostly canyon carving and track days/ fully modded power, tune, wheels, suspension and brakes already done and the list goes on. Aero or a bracing kit, idk which is more relevant to me?

You mention the underbody brace is to help make up for the convertible aspect. Would the underbody bracing be worth adding for an RF if you run with the roof enclosed?

The RF is still a convertible, and still has the same weakness across the center of the car as the soft top model. The RF top offers an improvement in sound and aerodynamics compared to the soft top, but it really is no more rigid (and any tiny improvement it may offer disappears when you put the top down). So, all the same benefits of the underbody bracing apply for the RF as they do for the soft top model.

I'd like to purchase the chassis braces and the front and rear braces, as well as the sway bars front and rear and the spider grill with the fog lights. By any chance your shop does the installation? I don't have a proper place to do it my self nor the knowledge 😅

It’s taken Mazda engineers over 30yrs to refine, design and shave every gram in weight to create todays ND2 and to add all these braces throughout this platform seems to me counter productive. I will be getting the exhaust upgrade for both the sound and weight savings but other than that it handles above and beyond my expectations as is. Perhaps for the track enthusiasts out there if it makes them feel more confident sure go for it.

the braces add less than 10 pounds in total, and that weight is way down low so it won't negatively affect handling. It will however tighten up the chassis which improves handling, as well as stop squeaks and rattles when you hit bumps on the road. If youre worried about that miniscule increase in weight, losing 10 pounds off of yourself, changing the seats, getting lighter wheels or changing the exhaust like you mentioned will make a bigger difference
