HI! Very useful video. Thank you! However, I would like some advice on what is the best way to reach accommodation from the airport in my case. The flight is expected to land at the T2C terminal. My wife and I will have to reach Gracia, the accommodation is the Residencia Erasmus Gracia. How should we do it? Since we will be in Barcelona for 5 days (3 full days + 2 travel days), which T-mobilitat card should we get? Thank you!

Very extensive but just a few points and updates. - Unless your destination is near one of the statikn if L9S don't take it. As mentioed it does not go to, or even near, the center and withth (long) change ut will take about an hour. - The 5.50 single does include chages inside the system but there is actually a time limit of 2h. - The train isbthe best option from T2, if it's close to where you meed to go but from T1 it's a bit of a hustle. As for the new line, the Genralitat are quite certain that it will open in 2026. -A single (adnd definatelly not recommended for most) is now 4.90€. - A change from the train to L4 is not recommended, especially with luggage, as it has stairs and a long tunnel as. Althogh have the same name, the train statikn and L3 and L2 and L4 are about 300m apart. To get to this area fro the Passeig de Gràcia train station gonout through the Pau Claris exit and near by you'll have the V17 bus that goes down Via Laietana. -The Aerobús isngreat, but not cheap. I use it as I have a stop nearby. Price has gone up to 7.25€ or 12.50€ return (valid for 90 days). You can also pay the driver, includin with cards and phone payments. - Be aware that the Aerobús Gean Via/Borell is actuallt near Gran Via/Urgell and was called that befoe, no idea why they changed it. If you are staying in the area of this stop on the way to the airport the stop is not on Gran Via but one street down at Sepúlveda. On the way back to the airport it does not stop at Universitat. - If youndo end up on the 46 bus you can change to the H12 bus, that goes along Gran Via at any stop starting at Av Granvia - Bloc I. Cerdà or to the H16 bus from the Gran Via - Química stop (which stopse at Pl. caralunya) by getting off thec46 and waitimg atvthecsame stop. Br sure to get off forcthe change before the Pl. Espanya FGC stop. -Alsomfor buses, there arecaldo night buses (Nit Bus) serving the airport. The N16 serves T2, the N17 serves T1 and the N18 serves both terminal and is more direct but be aware thatbit strats at T1 so from the city it will first go to T1 and wait a bit to the scheduled teparture time. You can use an integrated travel card if you one orvpay a single tontje driver (cash and credit).On any cash payment, make sue to have small notes as a driver (and machins) might not acceot large bills (on the bus usually max 10€ and on the Aerobús max 20€, taxis can refuse cash if they needto give change of more than 20€).

My 2 cents after getting back - As you advised - we all got the T-Usual (on our mobile): Hola Barcelona Card: Use the Aerobus T-Usual/Terminal 1: Use line 46 (No transfer needed to T2 and for first time visitors some sightseeing - transfer to the subway once in Barcelona) Other tickets/Terminal 2: Use train or line 46 Those getting the Train at T2 an need to pick up the Hola Barcelona card - First go down to the Subway - Get to the GREEN ticket machines to pickup your Hola Barcelona Card. After that go up to catch your train!

Thank you so much for this practical video, once arrived at the airport I had the impression that I already knew the area 😅 One thing IMPORTANT to mention. I've been annoyed while trying to buy my 6 zones T-usual (~61€). Regarding the credit cards, the automate does only accept contactless payments! So if your country has a security which limits payments (e.g 50 €) or if this feature isn't activated on your credit card you're in trouble 😢 Furthermore it doesn't allow to use more than 1 bill of 50€ for payments (I had 2 bills of 50€) so be aware of this to avoid being stressed when making your ticket purchase..

Yes, as a Barcelona resident it is definitely a pain not to be able to use 50€ bills for most tickets. In the past they had T-10 cards for about 10 euros (similar to T-casual), so I would buy 3-4 of them at a time, or look for a café willing to change my money, and end up buying a coffee when they refuse (and the dirty looks I would get 😂). Although, where did you try to get the ticket? Most of the older/bulkier ticket machines only accept credit cards with PIN payments, not contactless and most stations still has one of those.

Hello Tony, i will be travelling from the airport T1 terminal to an AirBnB next to Fabra i Puig metro station. In that case, i would think that taking the metro orange line and changing at Torrassa for the red line may be the simplest, most direct option, although not the most economical. If i wanted to use a t-casual instead, would it be much longer and which itinerary would you recommend? Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video and for many of your Barcelona videos! They have been so helpful in planning. I do have a question: We will be leaving via high speed train from the Sants station. I am thinking of just taking the bus there from our lodging since that is more convenient than the metro. Is it okay to take our carry-on sized luggage on the bus? Also, is arriving at the station at 7:30 enough time for the 8:30 train?

Hello Anna, carry-on luggage is fine. We always advise people to arrive at the station at least one hour in advance. All the best!
@phoenixUPC
@phoenixUPC Ай бұрын
I understand that the channel needs to be on the safe side for potential liability issues, but personally I think 1 hour is overkill. The access to high speed trains closes 5 minutes before departures, and I have often arrived 10-15 minutes before departure and made it to the train without a problem. I travel a few times each month, and only once I had to say excuse me and cut in front of the people in line for the security check. Of course, I have the benefit of experience and knowing where everything is and how it works at the station. So, I'd say 30 minutes would be more than enough time to figure things out and get on board your train. Maybe add 10 minutes if you are a big group or traveling with children or lot of luggage. If you are particularly averse to adrenaline rushes, aim for a soft 1 hour, but don't fret if you are 15-20 minutes delayed. Or you could always arrive early and enjoy a coffee with croissant/pastries or some McBreakfast at the station😉
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Ай бұрын
@@phoenixUPC nothing to do really with liability issues. We always err on the side of caution. We've been stuck for endless minutes in the middle of the tracks leaving the airport so many times! On top of that, a visitor needs far more time to read a place and a situation than a local resident. Only last week, we must have seen a dozen people missing their high-speed trains at Atocha and Sants. Mostly locals (or at least people traveling without luggage), I must say.

@@user-lf6wj7cx8w I totally agree about Atocha. Love the video, very informative and up to date. However there is one mistake where you explain how to get to Bus 46 from Terminal 2. When you arrive at Terminal 2B, you can head to the first exit from the terminal (next to the horse sculpture), turn right and in 20 meters there is the bus stop for 46 for Terminal 2C. This way you don't need to walk all the way to the other side of the terminal. Also, you didn't mention the night buses, N17 and N18, which I find quite useful for early flights. Due to low traffic late at night, N18 can be almost as fast as the AeroBus.

Definitely possible. The confusion probably arises from the fact that TMB considers airport as inside their definition of zone 1 but Renfe considers airport outside of their definition of zone 1. (yes, they have non identical definition of what each zone is, smh). T-casual is a TMB ticket, so you only need to buy it for a single zone. But when you buy a Renfe ticket, you need to choose the correct number of zones accordingly. I haven't checked recently but airport used to be in Renfe's zone 2 but quick Google search seems to suggest that it is now Renfe's zone 4(?!?) which is the same as a town as far away as Sitges, which is just weird. I'll check it out next time I am over at Sants.

To get to Caldetas you will need tickets valid for 3 zones. Ask wherever you are staying for the best transport option and ticket. For your stay in Barcelona, get either a T-usual or a T-casual, depending on how you plan on leaving the airport and the location of your hotel.

Love your channel, very informative, thank you. Question, from BCN to El Palace Hotel Barcelona according to Google Maps I can take bus A2 and bus H12 or Metro L1. Google Maps Information states "A shuttle bus is deployed to transport passengers among the main terminals (T1, T2B, and T2C) FREE of charge. Is it so or is Google Maps wrong?
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal 2 ай бұрын
Thank you. Careful with Google Maps in Barcelona, sometimes it's plainly wrong. Metro Line 1 doesn't go anywhere near the airport. If you are traveling light, take the Aerobús to the final stop and walk 10 minutes to the hotel. Otherwise, take a taxi.

Nothing wrong with this particular answer from Google Maps though. It suggests first to take A2 to Pl Espanya or Pl Catalunya and then transfer to H12 or L1, which is reasonable. Or you could walk from Pl Catalunya too. The "free shuttle bus is deployed to transport passengers among the main terminals" is the green ring buses the video explained which allows you to get from one terminal to another, which is for free.

@@phoenixUPC given that most people seek to save when leaving the airport and given that Google insists on suggesting a combination of an non-integrated form of transport with an integrated one (with the result that you pay twice), in our view it is a poor suggestion. Aerobús only makes sense as a stand-alone choice.

@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal true, I was thinking in terms of the validity of the transportation. In terms of cost, it is not an option I would pick. Since I always have a T-usual card with me, I tend to forget about the cost of bus/metro rides 😅

Hi, two of us are staying at the Barcelo Raval. From watching your video it seems that the train followed by the metro will be the cheapest and fastest way to get there. Which ticket would I need as that seems particularly complex? I also want to factor in potential travel to other attractions that I might visit like Parc Guell for example or Sagrada Familia. Thanks.

@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Ай бұрын
Hi, bear in mind the metro doesn't stop anywhere near the hotel, you will have to walk several blocks to reach it. Fastest: taxi. Cheapest: airport train to Barcelona Sants and metro line 3 to Liceu, and then walk 10 to 15 minutes to your hotel. Bear in mind this is an incredibly busy line, so we only recommend it to those traveling light.

Thanks so much for the detailed videos. One thing I'm not clear on, is if you take the train from the airport with one of the T-Mobilitat passes, how do you pay the additional €1.xx to board? Do you need to load a cash balance onto the card in addition to the pass, do you need to pay with a credit card, or some other payment method? I'm wondering if the Hola Barcelona card might be a better option even if it is a little more expensive as one can take a train, metro, or city bus without having to worry at all about extra payments?
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal 3 ай бұрын
Hello, didn't quite understand your question. T- mobilitat is just the support where you load your tickets (check out this video on the topic kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpOtq6OvrbF2sMk ). To be able to travel, you need to load some type of ticket on the T-mobilitat. Hola Barcelona is a good option, but with a T-casual you can travel in all the public transports of the city of Barcelona with the exception of the airport metro.
@ciabelle281
@ciabelle281 3 ай бұрын
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Ok, I believe I understand now, but the way you phrased things had me confused. In short, using a T-Casual ticket to board the train at the airport will use one of the 10 credits on the ticket, which costs approximately €12.10 at the machine. At first, It sounded like one needed to pay an additional €1.21 over and above the credit used to depart from the airport station. Bear in mind, in order for a visitor to only pay €1.21 for the trip, they need to take *exactly* ten trips on public transportation during their visit. If they only use it five times, the cost will effectively be double. You've indicated that the train is faster than the metro, but as most visitors will arrive in T1, they will also need to factor the time of exiting the terminal, catching the shuttle to T2, and then the long walk to the train station, and trains only running every 30 minutes, vs about every 5-10 minutes for the metro. Especially if you are only visiting for a couple of days (going on a cruise for instance) one might need to weigh the pros and cons of using a T-Mobilitat card vs. an Hola Barcelona card.

Natalie, take the airport train to Sants station and change to R1 train line. To get to Montmeló you will probably have to go to Barcelona first and then follow the instructions provided by the race organizers. Buy return train tickets from Calella to Montmeló.
@phoenixUPC
@phoenixUPC Ай бұрын
I would recommend the Renfe abono for cercanías de Barcelona for 10€ which would give you unlimited train travel to all 6 zones of Renfe, which includes both Calella and Montmeló as well as Barcelona. Unfortunately, I don't know any direct way from Calella to Montmeló/F1 track. If you choose to go by train, you'd have to come all the way back to Barcelona (El Clot-Aragó or Sants about 50-60 minutes with trains every 30 minutes or so) wait 5-25 minutes for transfer to R2 towards Montmeló (another 25-30 minutes with trains every 20-30 minutes) which takes about 2+ hours each way. And once you reach Montmeló, you are still about 2 miles /3.5km away from the race track (although Google shows there is a bus for that). Unless there is a special transport on race days, it feels like people organizing motorsports don't really like us people that use public transportation. 😂 Depending on your budget/time limitations and/or comfort expectations, you could take the train from Calella to another coastal town closer to the race track such as Mataró (around 20 minutes) and take a taxi from there for around 40-50 euros each way. This way you could be at the track in less than an hour. Not sure if you could find a taxi on the way back though. Good luck and enjoy!
