You are spot on David saying this brand is undervalued. I believe it wont be too long before this glorious watch brand will rise from below the radar and prices will increase. Great video. 👍👍

Hi David, I have got my late father’s early 1950’s mid-size 17 jewels Roamer that has a black tuxedo dial with sub-secs, gold hands and Arabic numerals, it has a press on case back that’s a gold colour, hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Roamer Watch Co. The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so it is classed as a mid-size piece. I found the following online: That the case was gold filled and is was signed inside with the initials Ltg for L. Tièche-Gammeter. Tièche-Gammeter registered the Roamer name in 1908. The case has a little pitting to the back which was fine, and some general light surface marking, but overall in good condition for such an early timepiece.

Great looking stingray. Reminds me of a Tissot seastar 7 from the 70’s

Totally agree that they are underrated! They made their own movements under the MST brand with some wonderful innovations ... I have become a major fan.

I only learned this week that my similar Roamer anfibio day can be set by setting the time back to 9pm, then to midnight, then back to 9pm and so forth, clicking the day on fairly easily.

I started with one vintage Roamer 4 years ago..I now have over 70! A great range of styles and price/quality levels .The sporty 1970`s chrongraphs are pricey but some good bargains can be had from the rest of the vintage ranges ..Mustang,Stingray and Anfibio`s are always worth looking out for.

Wow Martin, I’m jealous, what a great collection...and a good investment too I’d guess. Cheers, D

@@DavidHarperAntiques I buy them because I enjoy wearing them..as they cost a lot less than a Rolex or Omega I actually have money left to pay to keep them properly serviced and running too. I have at least four from the 1920`s that still keep good time and I wear ..not on rainy days though as watches were`nt good at keeping water out back then :0)

Did you know that a Roamer ended WW2? Paul Tibbits used a military Roamer Super Shock as a pilot watch in the B29 Enola Gay when he dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945. Everybody on board, possibly with the exception of Tibbits flying a brutal evasive maneuver to avoid the super shock wave.., counted down 43 seconds on their watches from bomb release to detonation.

@@agskytter8977 That`s very interesting. I`ve never heard that story before. I know Roamer`s were supplied to the German forces in WW2 and were also available in the shops on U.K. military bases (but not issued officially ). A Roamer watch was also presented to Field Marshall Montgomery. I do have a few examples of 1940`s military style watches with U.S import codes though so the tale may well be plausible. Thanks for the info

Great to see thos David. We had a chat about Roamer watches on a train from Cardiff to Manchester. You actually got me started on my Roamer journey via one of your tv appearances. Is there a cooler Chrono than the Stingray. Though do love the mustangs too.

Hi David , My most treasured watch is a Roamer Incabloc (whatever that means) that was given to me on my 18th birthday in 1968. It has a serial number 95662 . Is there a Roamer website that gives more information about the manufactur of their watches ? I also have my Father's watches, one that he bought in about 1939ish , and another in the mid 1960's (He only ever owned two watches in his entire life , both Roamers ,and they were still working when He passed away) Thanks for reading this . DAVE

Hello David, I have just came across this video, I have the first Roamer watch you showed on this video, the more dress watch. I had it given me as a gift and was told it was a gold watch but because I can't see any kind of marks on it I wasn't sure, it has a stretch gold band witch is obviously not gold as it says Stainless Steel on the back but the watch its self I'm not sure. A lot of watches I have looked up seem to be gold plated so how would I tell if this one is real gold? Can you help?
@DavidHarperAntiques3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shaun, take the back off the watch and if it’s gold it will carry gold hallmarks. You’ll be able to look them up online of it has any. D
