Used to go to the library when I was a kid in the 80s before the days of the internet and read many books from there during the summer holidays. I used to also rent out music albums from the library itself when I was a kid.

Completely right about the level of traffic compared with days gone by. As you say, on a Saturday night there used to be a wider range of venues to frequent in Gants Hill.

I remembered the Odeon Cinema where I used to watch Independence Day and even Harry Potter. I fell asleep 💤 whilst watching Harry Potter in the Odeon

Thanks for the video, Gants Hill was a familar place to me particularly from 66 to 70, last passed through on the bus in 2004 I think. I suspect the streets and shops have changed, station is still the same. Haha, next Clayhall and Couchmore Avenue and the Glade Primary?

@johngeorge3619 Growing up Gants Hill was the furthest I use to travel, until Lakeside opened. I thought Barkingside was in the countryside 😂.

The odean cinema was a impressive art deco building. The most packed cinema I ever went to was to see 'Masters of the universe'

The actual club is still there. But it wasn't open on Saturday night so don't think it's open for business. I saw a notice outside to 'Hire the Venue' so who really knows 😂
