Budget Overland Build Ep8: DIY 12V Setup on Isuzu KB300/Dmax Redarc BCDC1225D

The Budget build gears back a bit and gets ready to launch ahead! With the vehicle performing well, we could look at putting some more kit on the vehicle and getting it ready for some camping! In todays episode, we will be installing a ‪@REDARCElectronics‬ BCDC1225D DC-DC Charger in the vehicle (Available from ‪@4x4MegaWorld_Africa‬) and pairing it up with a 120AH 2nd Life Lithium Battery, and a small 500Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter! We had so much fun installing and custom DIY building a battery box and platform for a CF55 Waeco fridge. We recycled so much stuff from the garage and made something practical and useful for Andy to use going forward!

Great video Adrian. This will keep Andy going! These videos are also really useful to demonstrate that people don’t necessarily need an elaborate setup to power a fridge and some lights etc.

Good work. Though purely for aesthetics and squeeks/rattle prevention (plus a little sound proofing), have you considered covering the wood platform with a boot liner material or marine carpet?

Interesting episode. It is comforting to learn Andy has a biltong business. Mine begins in January. Have supply from two factories and it will be gas flushed in branded retail packs ready for the supermarkets and all other places biltong is sold. This provides maximum shelf life. Then early next year my completely off grid 4xr vehicle and 4x4 trailer will be ready, and I will be on the road promoting FMCG products and my mobile off grid rig. The rig is really state of the art with everything a house has, WIFI computers, printers, hot and cold water on tap. The whole nine yards. The 4x4 is a mini version of the trailer.

This setup that we did here is around R15k so very similar to the price of 500W Portable powerpacks; but it packs obvious a much bigger battery and way faster charging. So its going to be a great setup for Andy!

I think Mtech Communications sell Revov, and if you just google Revov 120AH you will find them around online.
