I have thousands of Burdock & dozens of other herbs I am harvesting right on my 3 acre yard surrounded by nature - Also have 47 more acres of woods, fields, riverfront & island. So God told me not to garden - not worth it - just harvest your herbs. This year I listened & wow, did I do the right thing! My blood pressure has gone down, at this rate, I might not need my herbs after a while! I'm using dandelion, yellow dock & plantain also. Everything is improving.

Most Asian market carry this, try to find Asian Market near where you live. I eat this all the time, I cook with carrots. Slice them very thin and fry them season with soy sauce, mirin and sesame seeds. We call it GOBO. just FYI.

This comes up naturally in my yard and yes it is considered an ugly weed, isn't this a shame! Those deep roots are very hard to dig up from our clay soil. I have read that in Japan they have special deep barrels that they grow it in for easier harvesting. I learned more about this wonderful plant by watching your video thank you.

Here in New York I pick the burdocks which are also sold in some markets as “Cardunes” which is an Italian favorite. They don’t have the same type of roots as the ones you have but we don’t pick the roots because we want to encourage them to regrow next year. I’ll have to pull up a root this year to see what it looks like😂. I would think that they also have similar benefits being in the same family. I have also seen them sold by seed company’s. I can only find them around Memorial Day each year. After prepping them I freeze them to be used during the holidays. I wasn’t aware of the medicinal properties so I thank you for the information!😊

The scientific studies I read also show burdock to be a blood purifier, removes heavy metals & other toxins from the body/blood/organs, as well as draining/supporting the lymphatic system! So many wonderful benefits, most of which you mentioned~ & I thank for posting this today Vickie. =) My husband's family all have kidney & diabetes/pre-diabetic issues, so I am always on the hunt for anything I can add into our diet that is multi-purpose like this. A few years ago, I discovered Chanca Piedra, which is yet another amazing plant that has multiple benefits- including kidney support & blood cleansing. My brother-in-law suffered from frequent, horrid kidney stones, & not a one since he started taking the c. piedra~ praise God! His provisions are truly endless, aren't they =)

This grows every where. It grows all over my property. It’s a biannual. The first year it is just the large, tender leaves. The second year it gets burs with seeds all over it. From my understanding you harvest the root in the first year, in the fall, as the second year they get woody.

I lived in Japan when I was in the Navy and my wife is a Japanese national. We purchased these all the time. They call them GOBO. and make Kinpira, Burdock, Carrots, and are so good in this combo. You can find this on KZbin. You can eat the root and the young leaf's. Japanese eat this to clean the blood. Remember you are what you eat. In America, we would consider this a weed in some parts. To me it is like Danielines, a weed but so good for you. .

I was watching your video on meal in a jar which was very interesting. Although if you had all the ingredients pre-measured it would really be amazing and the video wouldn’t be as long. Where do you get all of your freeze dried foods. I’ve watched quite a few homesteaders that own their own freeze dryer and they all say the reconstituted foods taste exactly as if made fresh do you find this to be true??? I’d like to try it and these recipes seem like the best way to start. Thank for your information.

Dirt free is not always a good thing. I lived on my Indian reservation my whole life I moved to city think it would be better for my girls I regret that decision in hind sight. Anyway on reserve I was lice and bed bug free didn’t hear about them too we came to city or things like coach roaches or those big grey birds that poop every where and live near ppl we don’t have those either not until recently we didn’t have raccoons but my sister and partner recently said they saw a raccoon on my reserve I hope they can avoid those martens and fishers they may look cute but they vicious creatures all though I still never came face to face with them and they live in my back yard
