It was awesome meeting you guys! Thanks for the education on DSLRs vs. Mirrorless (and everything else). I'm really impressed with how fast you cut down the hours of off-topic rambling into such a fun video. Also, thermal testing on cameras sounds like a super fun challenge. I don't know how useful that information is to the camera world, but I'm curious to hear what your viewers think. It'd be fun to collaborate on something like that! And for viewers, Gerald and Patrick are the real deal! Super knowledgeable and very helpful in teaching me more about studio gear. Thanks again for stopping by. Now to go overheat a camera...

Newer cameras have so many over heating issues. I would love to see proper results on those instead of reviews where they say "video recording for 30mins made the camera hot but not terrible. After an hour it gave heat warning and turned off." that kind of thing is useful if you know what you plan on doing. But it's not specific.

The 4K 60 really stands out on GN, in a good way. I think part of what sells it is that super crisp title animation. You see every bit of the 4K 60 in that title, and it sets the stage for the rest of the video. It’s not for every channel, but it really works well for GN in my opinion.

I did some analysis on the data presented at 24:04 and it does appear to be 104 data points randomly distributed between 1 and 2500 and then sorted randomly. There initially looked to be a bias against values under 500, but plotting a trendline shows an almost flat distribution weight and therefore an R^2 of 0.9937. The excel rand() function gives similar results.

For the HVAC noise, check the alignment of the blower and fan motor pulleys. Also reduce the fan speed to flow just enough CFM to balance the heat load. Not sure what your baseline humidity is but be mindful that slowing the fan speed will reduce humidity which is something to consider in an ESD sensitive environment.

There isn't a lot a tenant can do except request the landlord to make those adjustments. I think they should spend a bit more time pre-cooling the space and dialing in their lighting so the temp doesn't go crazy once they start shooting. It would save money on the utility bill too :)
@TheJohnnyFictionShow
@TheJohnnyFictionShow 10 ай бұрын
@@JeffMacKinnon This assumes we understand the terms of @GamersNexus lease agreement. In any event, my suggestions could be requested and implemented at the landlord's discretion. However, I'll go a bit further and bet that GN is operating under a Triple Net Lease (NNN) and has assumed responsibility for HVAC. Such terms are favorable in commercial real estate because proper HVAC load calculations must account for heat load variables from tenant-installed equipment/appliances and the number of occupants. Since a tenant’s needs can change significantly over the duration of their lease, such as potentially requiring a higher capacity HVAC, the NNN Lease is the least restrictive option. Without an NNN lease, a tenant's prospects are not only limited by the capacity of the landlord’s provided HVAC, but the tenant could be liable if their HVAC demands exceed the provided system's rating and contribute to failure. Additionally, GN’s substantial construction requirements and capital improvements to the building, including mechanical changes as shown in their recent tour of the new semi-anechoic chamber (HVAC Muffler/Manifold), seem best suited for a Triple Net Lease.

Great video as ever! Steve surprising Gerald simply by having such old gear makes it. The anechoic room is awesome it will be interesting to see what full videos from inside will be like. You should totally get Gamers Nexus to do some temperature testing for camera gear - it can be such a problem in hot (and extremely cold) locations that it can genuinely make a difference to peoples choice of what to buy for cameras, lights and even for fittings and fixtures being too hot or cold to touch and use.

I'm seeing that right now with a Nikon Z30 I picked up recently when outputting 4k through HDMI for a good amount of time. That's odd, gerald's voice in the anechoic chamber exhibits a very strong comb filter effect.

Texas shooter here, PLEASE ACCEPT HIS THERMAL TESTING OFFER! That is all, lol. Actually great video; thank you for showing a studio that is more minimal! It’s encouraging! I love the LTT and MKBHD tours to see what’s possible but these make you feel better 😅

Only thing ill ding u guys for is not showing the product room. Love to have seen all the CPUs, GPUs, mobos, cases, etc etc. Cool to see LTTs giant wall of products, would have been cool to see GNs and have steve talk about it.

I can’t help but be jealous of people with space. Like, room to move and flail and stuff. 🤤 I also really admire the dedication to using “old” gear as long as possible. Awesome.

Def looking forward to those thermal reviews. Would be great to get a high quality, reliable set of metrics so that we moved away from "well it works for me".

Lord yes. Camera thermals would be dope. we need it. Also, I kinda low key dig GN's lighting. It's not artistic, but it is very illuminating. Much like GN.
