He's goofy as hell (which I love dearly), but it's also evident at all times just how damn sharp Linus is. Problem is he has still yet to hire anyone at his level. On the WAN show he was complaining that there's nobody on his team who can fact-check scripts/videos as good as him. He still treats the organization as a way to empower him rather than a machine that runs itself. (See also - him personally approving the specific model of lamp they buy for the set.)

Linus _is_ right about the hats and the hat wall and the whole concept behind it. Making the videos more entertaining and establishing a brand of personality is what got him to where he is; he didn't just accidentally get there. Same concept as in MKBHD's tour when he was talking about how getting a specific zoom shot is what makes him stand out in a crowded YT space, but that's not it at all, people watch for the personality. That's why we watch podcasts and second channels and third channels and guest star videos and so on. That's why they are called 'influencers'.

The sweetest part, I think, was when Linus was being teased about "Flexing" that he bought a whole building as a soundproofing solution. His face immediately went to a place of vulnerability trying to defend that he was just trying to make the best decision he could with the options at hand, rather than having ever focused on the money in a vainglorious way. I feel like he might be sensitive to the idea that he might be perceived as an out of touch millionaire, when at heart he's just a nerd that loves talking about tech, and has found financial success in doing it. I'm really happy seeing his humility shine through, I'm glad I've followed his channel for years.

Black Magic makes some amazing green screening products! We use one of their switcher boards and 3 of their studio 4k cameras for one of my schools production sets in our TV Productions class and it works amazing! Great video I love all the tech that LTT has… Makes me jealous lmao

This was an awesome collab. Love the infos about how they reccord straight in to the fileserver, or how they do the greenscreen work...

And I was already happy when I had my first softbox and a laptop stand for live streams. This is about 1.000.000 levels up, just wow!

Will we get the Andy tour? Would like to hear more from him as more of a camera person.

I don't think Linus is every anything but himself on camera, but this felt like a much more genuine Linus who simply got to show off and talk about the things he's spent his career building and loves.. that's awesome and a lot of fun. Thanks for the video!

Linus is always playing a character in every video, he talks about this in the wan show after the mom and pop shop video. From reserves the clip on LMG clips is titled the best video in a long time or something like that, he provides far more detail about how he's playing a character then I feel like going into

In the clandestine world they tell you "live your cover" which is the same principle behind Linus' decision to use hats and props for things. It demonstrates that he has some level of investment in understanding a product, and it builds the ambiance.

Why is Gerald giving his tours IRS vibe🤣.. he's like evaluating content creators for tax and the hosts is sweating and nervous to have him.

What software did you use to repair the file? I'm having that exact same issue! I set the camera down, and my battery popped out while recording a client video. Thanks for the awesome studio tours, Gerald. They're hilarious AND interesting.
