My voice was a bit unsynced with my video during the livestream, hopefully fixed for the next one! Also, I went over 30+ portfolios on stream (couldn't include them all here) but you can watch the full stream if you'd like to see them all! kzbin.infohocAh4VyR_M

When I'm hiring candidates for , the first thing I look for is how many hours they have on Geometry Dash. Because obviously that correlates directly to programming skills. Additionally, during the interviews, one of HR's favorite exercises for candidates to do in interviews is rewriting MegaHack v8 from scratch using raw C++ with no libraries.

Man your ability to just repetitively look at dark portfolio sites and then switch to a bright exel sheet is crazy, i can visibly see the increase in brightness in your facecam. Its definately one of the reasons I know how legit you are. Personally I'd change the color of the exel doc to save your eyes long term but you do you, i could never do it.

“Linux terminal” sites are cool and all, but giving that to a normal recruiter and having them figure out what command will tell them more about the candidate between all the random rubbish commands doesn’t feel good to me

Dude I saw the hours of dedication to everything you do. Push heavily that you're dedicated to your craft and you'll do well. There are like 2 main points for hiring (in my eyes): systematic problem solving and sheer dedication. Disclaimer: I have literally never hired anyone and graduated 7 months ago so I am an expert.

The only scenario where I can see steam being a good thing to link is if you're a game dev linking to games you've developed or worked on. Otherwise hell no.

I still dont get the problem with having 4 or more roles. Yes HR gets bluescreen when they see you know how to do one than more thing. Also those amout of hours proves you are a devoted, what all companies search for people that are long term. But at the same time i understand you need to keep your private life put of your CV but then yiu should tell HR to stop asking stupid questions about personal life like hobbies
@senatrius1968Ай бұрын
I think the biggest problem is that it just screams "Here are the 4 roles I can do, I'm not particularly great at any of them." Which might not actually be true, people have hobbies and develop several skills in their free time that they can use at work, but a hiring manager might just say: "People spend years at a university learning how to be a full stack developer, or they spend years learning UI/UX design and development, or they spend years learning game development, or learning product management. And you say you... can do all of that? Yeah, right. Next!" Of course another hiring manager might see all of that and go: "One employee for the price of 4? Great, just what we were looking for!" and give you the job right away, so it's not always bad to list all of your skills, it is just luck in the end.
