Henderson makes telling observations about urban elites. I've noted how often these posh activists proclaim their "Marxism" while dismissing whole sectors of the working class as racist, transphobic, etc., and championing policies that give the capitalist state and boss class more and more powers over what workers think, say and do.

You nailed it man. I only would add about that type of mind "One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool."

The Cultural Marxists aren't interested in the plight of the Working Classes. That is so old school.

There was a very telling moment early on during the count after Labour's 2019 disaster, when it was already clear that - as Alan Johnson put it on the C4 coverage - 'Corbyn couldn't lead the working class out of a paper bag', and vast swathes of traditional working-class Britain had preferred the most inept (Etonian) PM we have ever seen to the upper-class boy from the manor house who was then leading Labour. A guy on a BBC vox pop in one of the 'red wall' constituencies told the reporter: 'Labour have treated working people as thick, racist chavs for the last 5 years and still expects us to turn up and vote for them'. With poverty and inequality at unprecedented levels, Britain desperately needed a Left. Posh boys with luxury beliefs weren't it.

No it’s not what we would think. We don’t like people that are wealthy telling us what to do or taking our freedoms away from us. Taxes are spent on things that we do not find valuable.

Luxury beliefs. More ignorance than malice. So true. Poor background to comfortable. Tell someone they're a victim and th e state owes them, and they'll stay a victim for life.

Luxury beliefs, by definition, are principally beliefs that someone can afford to hold. That's as opposed to someone else with a vastly different set of priorities who likely can't. What then happens is that a self-serving virtuous narrative is built around those luxury values that are designed very often to marginalise even further and browbeat those who can't afford them. Then that narrative might itself be paraded and/or cherry picked depending on circumstances. Someone might claim to believe that humans are destroying the planet, for example, and then purchase an expensive EV beyond the means of most to demonstrate their virtuousness but perhaps then, far less conspicuously, choose not to forego three foreign holidays a year. The brutal irony here is that invariably it is 'they' who are the primary per capita generators of all that apparently ails us NOT the less well off. Manipulative, dishonest and cynical doesn't even come close to covering it.

Trump is not hard to figure out. He stayed grounded because he was involved in the NYC construction industry for so long- it’s reality based in a way higher education is not.

Encouraging people to talk about mental health, and the celebration of vulnerability. Great if you can pay for a therapist, but also a factor in why we have 1.3 million people waiting for, what could well be, insufficient NHS counseling.

Because they aren't really "left wing", they've just been adopted by the idiot progressives. All these ideas are dreamed up in billionaire funded think tanks because it's just disguised class warfare That's where the crossover with libertarianism comes from

Henderson is insufferable. I am work class. If I had Trum’s money, I would buy the land our state is about to bulldoze and save it for me wild bird friends. Especially a baby black hawk I saved . It’s her home. I would build a tiny 600 square foot house and tend to the wildlife.

Most of these entities are far from 'elite'. Quite the opposite, and apart from monetary wealth they are greatly lacking, in talent, skills and self awareness! The harm they have done to our societies, is typical of sociapaths even psychopathy by them! Just vile!

It's STILL not popular to say this - my comments on the subject have been taken down - but this is strongly redolent of Goodhart's 'Somewheres vs Anywheres' take on Brexit.
