Thanks for explaining why it's so great to watch Rob Machado surf! He is so smooth and beautiful to watch. (from Sandi)

It helps heaps that Rob shapes and designs his own equipment. He designs his boards for the way he wants to surf. So if you want to surf like Rob, consider riding one of his designs. I'm currently riding a 7'0" Seaside and beyond. Super smooth and flowing. Perfectly suits Rob's casual approach.

Rob is so good he shreds harder effortlessly on a longer board than most on a shorty. As the saying goes “it’s the rider not the board”

Such a great surfer and great analysis of what he’s doing clay and ant. His lean on the bottom turn seems effortless. I’ve been waiting for this one!

@Ombe Surf-- can you speak to the mechanics of how Rob gets through the sections so effortlessly? is it the quick straight to the beach for speed then lean to generate rail speed down the line (or something else)? thanks for this!

Curren is the master of style. There are lots of surfers that have the grace, style and flow. Craig Anderson is a classic example. Gerry Lopez is another example. Ripping with effortless flow. When your really good, you don't have to have to work for it, it just happens. These style masters had mentors and people to emulate. Pick your Jedi and explore.

Back foot positioning question: On his bottom turn, where do viewers think his back foot is on the tailpad? I only clearly spotted his back foot slightly forward of his fins, on the ball, when he was looking for the coverup. I figure this is different for the midlength than that shortie?

It is all about feeling. Yes it changes from board to board

What software/app is it being used in this video to analyze Rob Machado’s footage?

The best way to improve your surfing style is to practice on a longboard skateboard. It will really improve your drive, speed, and style. Video tape or get pictures if your surfing too. It will help you see how you look surfing. I surf midlengths and the boards themselves really help with style too. These short boards that look like potatoe chips or skim boards with find are better suited for skateboarders that surf. 🤙😷🇺🇲

Can you recommend any longboard setup?
@larrydowling52132 жыл бұрын
@@kelvinbatista9259 really any skateboard will work. It depends on you, how you surf, how you wanna surf, and what kind of boards you want to surf. I recommend the longer skateboards Bec the longer wheelbase allows you or better yet it forces you to draw out your turns, and it forces you find the flow when your pumping. I've always used skateboarding as an extension of my surfing. I always skated like I surfed. A rule of thumb for me, is any skateboard that is hard to kick turn using the tail. The smaller the wheel base the smaller your pumps can be, so if you're surfing a modern short board, a small skate would be more better. As it will allow you to do tighter pumps, or you can draw them out too. Just depends on what you're trying to do. Hope that helps you out. 🤙😷🇺🇲

Rob never looks like he got his feet in the wrong place. Do you think there is a secret to that? He moves but initially it's just where they should be.
@lutzchoco12 жыл бұрын
You can think about arms hands body legs stance twist ..whatever..... the secret is in the board ...and the geometry....
