The problem is that Rodgers refuses to retire. He’s holding the jets hostage
@andrewj.chappelliii973920 күн бұрын
Refuses to retire? If you are currently working and still producing at a reasonable to above average, you probably wouldn't like if someone told you that you should just step down because you are holding your employer hostage. The Jets are holding the Jets hostage. Their issues are far beyond Rodgers. Let's not act as if dysfunction started once Rodgers came. Let's not be that naive. The team has missed the playoffs last 13+ years. That's all Rodger's fault? Saleh's record as HC was Rodgers fault? Saleh only had Rodgers for 5 games, but that was Rodgers fault? Now is Rodgers blame-free here? Of course not. What is going to happen is that the Jets let Rodgers go, he goes elsewhere and plays well and Jets still missing playoffs. Adams would go too, Garrett Wilson asks to be traded. Then who else asking to be traded or let go? Breece? Then what? And that would be with a new regime mind you. Jets become a playoff team in 2025. That would be called another rebuild. Another reset which means another 2-3 years of non-competitive and dysfunction leading to more tension and no playoff appearances. Cannot keep hitting the reset button. That's not going to work. Selecting a QB high in the draft will not work. Who is he learning from? Tyrod Taylor. Say what you want about Rodgers, but tell me Jordan Love did not benefit from watching Rodgers? Didn't Rodgers benefit from watching Favre? Let's use your thought that Rodgers should retire. So he's gone, which means Adams will be gone too and that Garrett Wilson will ask for a trade. Describe your plan of what that Jets team looks like in 2025 with those three things at play and how they will qualify for the playoffs while in full reset mode? I'll wait.

Picture that the Jets letting Rodgers go after throwing 30TDs, 10INTs in a bad season that's not up to his standards. Name another QB the Jets have had who has put up such numbers in a bad year. For many years, they have always had the special teams, the defense, the coaching (to a lesser extent), but not the QB. Now they have the QB, but no defense, no special teams and no coaching. Only the Jets. Go look at the last time they were in the playoffs, 2010 under Ryan. Mark Sanchez in his rookie year threw 12TDs, 20INTs. They made the playoffs in spite of Sanchez. Now that's a bad year for a QB. They had coaching, a defense, an OL, very good special teams under Westoff. The two years under Ryan was Mangini's team let's be honest and transparent here. That was a Championship-caliber team. The playcalling for Sanchez was very safe that postseason. It was Trent Dilfer esque safe. Only the Jets folks to do things backwards.

Rob is right, one one good leg, and with a really bad O-Line (the O-line is healthy and playing well finally) and no running game, Rodgers put the Jets in a winning position 6imes just to have it end up in a loss because of either the D allowing the other team to march down the field, or a missed field goal. He already has 3 wins on end of the game drives. He would have 8 with a good D and a decent kicker! They would be 10-4! Then, on top of it, look at his last 7 games, those in which he has been much more healthy. In the last 7 he is in the top 5 in the league. So yeah, the hate cancel culture has created this, and the sports media is too stupid to see through it.

@andrewj.chappelliii973920 күн бұрын
Rodgers OL way worse. Incomparable to use KC OL and NYJ OL. Not even close. Did Mahomes go down 4 plays in to start a season? Asking for a friend. Mahomes worse OL was in SB vs Tampa. Chiefs fixed that issue following offseason. And you cannot compare those two teams. Rob was just talking about numbers regarding Mahomes, not his team.
@BirdLives720 күн бұрын
@andrewj.chappelliii9739 The chiefs have the worst LT situation in the league. They have had 4 different ones this season alone. Other positions have also it been bad. Mahomes literally drops back then starts running for his life. How does a QB as mobile as mahomes have a many sacks as he does? The Jets do have a bad O line too though. 4 plays to start a season? Are you talking this season or last? Mahomes isn't 40 and can take sacks. And again, if we're talking about numbers, let's talk FL numbers. What are Mahomes numbers on 3rd down and in the 4th quarter? And which receivers does he have that are better than Devante and Wilson?

Let's face it. This is all happening regarding Aaron Rodgers and him becoming a piñata is because they are losing. That is it. When you lose, everything shows. Just look at Kansas City. Mahomes looks like a shell of himself, but he makes the plays. Special Teams makes the plays. Coaching is always on point. That's why they just keep winning. In Rodgers case, he did not take the easy road Brady did. Brady knew that Tampa had everything else in place except him. That was not the case in NY. Rodgers came with the hopes of turning things around. Could he have taken the easy road? Sure. But he has already accomplished everything there is as a professional QB. There was nothing else for him to accomplish. He was hoping to make that difference at Florham Park. He was hoping to be part of that change, even if it was just for the short-term. That is why his injury last year really sucked because I thought they were a playoff team. It really sunk the team when he went down. He did not come to add to the dysfunction. The team was already there. They did not need external help for that. Let's see real coaching in Florham Park. A real OL in Florham Park. A real defense in Florham Park. A real Special Teams unit in Florham Park. Let's go one more year with Adams, Wilson. If Rodgers goes, Adams will follow. Garrett Wilson will no doubt ask for a trade should Rodgers and Adams leave. Then what? Then you're hitting the reset button again because there will be no playoffs without Garrett and now opposing teams will just stack the box and the record will be right in line with having the top 3 pick for 2026 draft. Adams is a tremendous help for Garrett Wilson. I would want my WRs to learn from Adams. Just saying. Adams is not an issue. I would want team to draft a QB in mid to late rounds to watch Rodgers for a year. Where's the harm in that? It will not set the franchise back any further if Rodgers is brought back in 2025.
