This 'style of intro' is excellent! - Long introductory intros in which the creator drones on endlessly about the story and basically gives away key twists prior to reading is counterproductive... I would rather be lead into what happens in a story rather than being made aware ahead of time. Rookie travel mistake: bringing valuables with you....because the watch (or ring or necklace or whatever) can fall off, get lost or stolen. Bring a five dollar cheap watch and wear it until you return home. If your girl (or guy) steals it, they get a five dollar costume piece.

Yes, the police could be sympathetic, or just fob you off as another stupit falang. My friend was told, "All this paperwork so you can claim insurance , you should share that with us." But But But, the least you could have done was tell the mamasan at the bar. Though there's a good chance she had no intention of going back there, with 26k in her pocket. Next hotel, you will remember the safe.
