I studied and performed with Robbie back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. It is great to see a resurgence of interest in his music. I have been hoping for 40 years that more guitarists would take advantage of the freedom offered by his style of playing. I recently recorded for the first time myself, one cut on "Beyond Berkeley Guitar" on the Tompkins Square label; the only cut with an obvious connection to Basho's style: "A dream of distant summer"

What was Basho like in person? Must have been a trip to see him practice his tunes live!

I am Japanese and I translate it on Google Robbie Basho is a great singer I have a record Moving up I'm nervous. However, it is totally unknown in Japan. John Jacob Niles is also great. But it is still unknown in Japan. It is a great singer, so I want you to become famous in Japan. Thank you for the great video

He brought so many musical and cultural forms to our attention. He also took the name Basho out of respect to Matsuo Basho.

I hope you are either alive and doing well or peacefully resting, you elusive uploader of wonderful music. I perhaps wouldn't have discovered Robbie Basho and consequently Fahey and many of the other greats in this scene if your uploads had not foind their way into my algorithm. Thank you. It has helped me greatly to grow musically and as a person.

What a transportive song! I normally listen to synth-based music but I come from a guitar background and I feel like Robbie Basho returned to me something I molted long ago. The guitar would be enough, but his voice is also incredible!

Yeah I was producing electronic music for like... the better part of a decade and this stuff woke up something in my 10 year old learning to play acoustic guitar self that's leading to much more fulfilling writing

Completely different song than on Voice of the Eagle. This is like him taking 10 years to color it in carefully to the edges like it was in a picture book

I would think it would be more legitimately disrespectful if it was intentional. Some people have trouble with spelling or god bless them, just make mistakes. Try not to spring to extreme accusations, especially while Basho is playing
