People forget the significance of Houllier and how he was importing in modifying the club… there was a “old school culture” that needed to be engineered out of the club and unfortunately Fowler was a big part of that culture where he and Phil Thompson constantly clashed… look at the list of players houllier sold im that short period of time Razor ruddock Mark Wright Dominic Matteo Phil Babb Paul Ince I loved Fowler he was my hero growing up but the team was evolving and Fowler at that time didn’t change his ways… They had an offer from Leeds they couldn’t turn down at the time and accepted the offer… the guy scored a hatrik and three days later was a Leeds player …

'Loyalty' is demanded of players by fans only when they're deemed to be good players. Like when Van Persie left Arsenal, he was berated for lack of loyalty because he was their best player. Yet I didn't see half as much loyalty from Arsenal towards Kieran Gibbs, Fran Coquelin, Serge Gnabry, Fran Merida, Niklas Bendtner, etc. Loyalty from the club to those players didn't matter a jot because they were deemed 'not good enough!'

So players get given 200k per week by their clubs come rain or shine and he's bitching about loyalty. You are a commodity in every job in any walk of life. If you lived in the real world for 5 minutes you'd know that so just be happy with the thousands you get paid and the millions you have in the bank because your club paid you. This is why as a lifelong football fan I can't stand it anymore. It's like the players and ex players talk as if they're wronged all the time when they should count their lucky stars. This guy was good for about 3 seasons then got fat and couldn't be arsed to train properly and look after himself to keep the weight off. All the while getting paid tens of thousands in the 90's and early 2000's. Poor footballers. Really feel for them.

One example I remember is when Theo Walcott was in contracts extension negotiations with arsenal the fans were on his case constantly until he signed. Yet he had the biggest clubs across Europe wanting him on a free transfer ie. Barcelona, Juventus etc. He stayed "loyal" to the club and fans then within a year or two he was sold to a smaller club because Arsenal didn't want him anymore. Lost opportunity for him to better himself and his family's future because he felt pressured to stay.

And sorry again GOD, but it’s very normal in sport that once you are nit at that top level anymore…of course they will let you go and replace you.v Now the loyalty GOD is talking about here…was actually shown to him. Liverpool didn’t want to sell you mate. In your own words, you left because you was no longer in the starting line up. Which is fair. Not sure what ya want to be fair…..what else do you want Robbie? Allowing you to stay and be part of the squad k is very loyal. And while paying you your contract.
