Love love Robbie. Love his lyrics, his sound, his storytelling, and when he was younger his looks. Robbie had it all, or almost, did not have a great voice, but The Band had 3 great singers, Levon, Richard, and my favorite Rick Danko.

I agree Robbie and The Band mates need to be remembered as a great Canadian band, but I also like to mention that Guess Who and Rush were also right up there with number one Canadian bands. ☮️

Robbie's smile would lit up the room. He was very handsome when he was young, but even in his fifties, when he smiled it would like up the room. Love Robbie, sorry he is gone.

Fallen Angel is a song I can barely stand to listen to. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, and my favorite of his solo work, but it was a rock radio staple when my mother died. And the lyrics just related so well to my mom…but I do love it. Sad times for us music fans, and I’m sure not the last time we’ll see your face, Wayne. That’s just about the only thing that’s happy about this series. You’re like, my top musical eulogist! I’m grateful!

My simple understanding is Robbie took residuals for writing credits of songs he wrote. The band equally shared in Album sales and live shows. Levon I believe felt he deserved more from the writing side. Sorry that it comes down to the dollar that creates a rift.

We will all die eventually. The question is: who are the ones left behind? Who are among us to pick up the torch behind him? It's heavy, but it's up to us as musicians and writers and as people to continue on and fight the good fight to create the best of oneself to the world.

Think only Robbie got paid for the Last Waltz...no one else in the band got a cent
@mcdaniels6188
@mcdaniels6188 Жыл бұрын
That's hard to believe. I mean, you're Richard, Rick, Levon, and Garth, up on the big screen and not getting paid for it? I mean, they were all members of the Band, and it's a movie about the Band. Seems that would be a pretty easy lawsuit to win if it came down to that.

@@SoulTrainBro According to Levon's book, and what I heard Robbie say during the Last Waltz interviews was Robbie grew tired of the normal grind of touring. Robbie seemed to be the only one eager to hang it up. I suspect Martin Scorsese was keen on making this movie, and as we all know now, to have Robbie score movies for him. So Robbie had a soft landing after the Last Waltz concert, whereas, for instance, Levon and Rick Danko went on to have less than stellar solo careers. Fortunately Levon had a successful acting career, so that helped him. I saw the Band several times post-Robbie, and they were quite good. Unfortunately, one might deduce that despite their being able to tour as the Band, it wasn't the same type of pay day as when the original incarnation were recording and touring.
@hannejeppesen1809
@hannejeppesen1809 8 ай бұрын
Robbie wanted to stop touring, due to the out of control drug use by Richard, Levon and RIck. He had a young family, and felt the touring was tempting fate. Already Rick (my favorite not being judgemental) had a bad near fatal accident, Richard had an accident and Levon, Richard and Rick were crashing cars on a regular basis.@@mcdaniels6188

The feud was about writing credits for songs and residuals. Levon felt he deserved more more credits and money for the songs. Robbie always deflects. In once wete brothers he claimed they were supposed to get back together but everyone forgot, which was bs, because everyone did get back together but HIM...they recorded albums later without him. Now, opinions say Robbie deserved all the song money, but I also know Robbie has fudged on what occurred.
