Mark, thank you for your service to our country and our way of life! My wife and I love Arizona. It is one of the most beautiful places that we have ever seen! There are so many places to visit and camp out free of charge. My friend has a truck camper outfit that he really likes. We travel in a 2018 Winnebago Travato 59 K. That fits our needs just right. Although you are about the age of my oldest son, I find myself relating to your experience a great deal. I am originally from West Virginia, but we are currently Central Florida residents. My sister once lived in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. It is beautiful area. Over prepare and plan on a second fail-safe and I have found that you will never be sorry because you are over prepared and anticipating the unexpected! Carry on and we’ll be watching!

Great description of your motorcycle hitch extension and rack setup. I'm currently toting my vstrom 650 in my cargo trailer, thinking of doing the rack on the back of a class c. I hope the rattlesnakes are in hibernation, Mark. It was pretty warm until recently so I'm not sure. If you haven't seen any, then I guess they must be. Don't know which way you're heading, but the BLM dispersed camping at Indian Bread Rocks is pretty cool. Historic Fort Bowie's ruins and museum is just down the road. It's about 265 miles east of where you're at.

I'm definitely looking out for rattle snakes. I haven't seen any so far. I'm staying around Phoenix area for now. I wish I'd known about Indian Bread Rocks sooner, I went close by that area while getting here. I'll keep it in mind though.

Great episode! I worked in tv for years and the best trick I can tell you about a lapel mic in the wind is to get some paper app 2"X2" then roll it like a straw. Tape that 'straw' onto your mic like you're talking in a tunnel. Trust me it'll work. Keep up the great topics and information. You're just the type of show I've been looking for.

I see where you were "Schooled" on the proper pronunciation of Gila.....hahaha. I didn't see anyone fill you in on the age of Petroglyphs though. They were put there by Hohokum Indians back between 1300 and 1500 AD. Not by the Apache Indians of the 1800's. Your video was awesome. Thanks for climbing to the top of Robbins Butte. I'm 70 and overweight, so you saved me from killing myself to see what's up there. ...and thank you for your service.

That area is filled with lots of historical stuff. I love the area. I've also found, if I pronounce something wrong in a video, I always get a lot more views with folks trying to "school me" commenting to correct me. LOL KZbins algorithms loves all the comments which pushes the video out to more folks. I can't wait to post a video about my 2011 Chevrolet F250 pickup truck. ;-)

I have a similar setup on my motor home for my KLR 650 . mine rubs on the ground sometimes when i go to a gas station if the entrance is on a slope . My rack is only 36 pounds and made from Aluminum and can handle 425 pounds. I bought the same straps but cant get them to stay tight so i use 4 ratchet straps and bungee cords to hold it in place until i get it strapped down tight. thanks again for your video.

I don't have any problems tightening mine, they stay put. I really like them. Hopefully they don't start coming loose on me eventually. I guess that's another reason I use four straps, just in case. Thanks for watching!

Great video! Work your way down to Organ Pipe Cactus NM if you can. Beautiful area, it is. If i wasn't working, I'd be in that same area. Thats how i load my TW200, only from the opposite direction. Stay safe, well and positive.

Thanks Daryl! I was actually down by Organ Pipe Cactus last month checking out the BLM land down there. There is no longer No dispersed camping allowed anywhere south of the city Why, Arizona or near Organ Pipe Cactus monument. I spoke with the border patrol folks that are there, and they said no boondocking allowed in that area anymore, I was bummed. There use to be signs that said 14 day stay allowed. The signs are all gone now.

It's crazy that you ask this question because I'm actually headed out there this week for a couple of nights. I've found a couple of spots after some research that I'm going to check out while I'm there to see if they are decent places to disperse camp at. Senator Wash is the first one. It's on the California side, but still close to Yuma. Another spot near Yuma but California side I'm checking out is off of American Girl Mine Road 32.835600, -114.807400 I haven't been to Yuma nor do I know anything about these two areas. But they are both near Yuma. I'll be exploring these areas this coming week. Hope this helps.

Mittry Lake is right there close to Fortuna. We've jusf t been by there last few months. Senato Wash has several differing areas within it. On up toward Quartzsite you have Kofa and Palm Canyon. Enjoy!

Good Morning! The black box with the white wire is the solar part of the rope LED lights I use while camping out in the desert. While parked in the desert over night, mice will sometimes make a home in your engine compartment and chew on your engine wires. Not good. LOL Some folks use solar rope lights underneath their engines to discourage mice from camping out and chewing on your vehicles wiring. I haven't had any problems so far! I also keep my hood open over night to discourage the mice from moving in also.

Just curious, have you ever loaded the bike in opposite direction? You should have more room for the door to swing open, also you wouldn't be wedging yourself in between bike and camper, giving you more room to maneuver around. Maybe you've already tried that.

I'm looking to purchase a class c and pull a enclosed trailer with my street and trail bike in 2021. I know ground clearance issues always needs looking out for! Thanks for the BLM areas that have tempered their dispersed camping! Hiking to the top of that hill, was a battle, but the views you shared made it worthwhile!!! Thanks for watching Randy! I do not carry protection against snakes. I've never had an issue with snakes. The only time most folks get bitten is when they try to catch a snake or try to kill a snake. I haven't really seen any critters out walking the desert. The snakes from what I hear are all hibernating, and will be back out spring time. I do though, am always on the lookout for snakes. I'm hoping to see one, and really hoping I see it, before it sees me. LOL

None that I'm aware of. There is one on the State Land Side. When you turn onto W Robbins Butte Game Road, you'll come to a Y in the road. If you go right, it'll take you onto state land and about a 1 1/2 miles down the road, you'll come to a locked gate right before Robbins Butte. If you stay left at the Y, you'll be on BLM, no gates when I was there. That same road will also take you to Powers Butte, about 6 miles past Robbins Butte.

You can, but from my understanding you would need an Off-Highway Vehicle Decal if you are operating it on public land or Arizona State Trust Land. The right side of the road going in is Arizona State Trust Land and the left side is public BLM land. Here is the website with more info: www.azgfd.com/ohv/decals/ The decal is required for residents and non-residents. I don't need a decal for my motorcycle since it's not primarily made for off roading. There is lots of BLM land you can ride on at that location. Also if you are wanting to ride on Arizona State Trust Land, you would need the Arizona State Land Department Recreational Permit Form. You can get it on-line also here: asld.secure.force.com/recreationalpermit/ If you are just riding on BLM land, you would only need the Vehicle Decal.

Several reasons. I only have room for one battery in battery compartment. I mostly disperse camp in forests, with little sunlight. I would still need a generator to make coffee, run microwave on occasions. For now, I like my generators.

@@DispersedCamperMan Gotcha. I have a Four Wheel Camper and one 100ah Battleborn lithium battery and 260 watts of roof mounted solar. I can go for days without sun running my fridge, furnace lights and charging laptops, phone etc and still usually get a full charge on a single day of sun. Whole set-up weighs about 70 pounds. If your generator gives up the ghost, check into it...outta sight, outta mind. BTW, I saw your camper at Alamo Lake...great spot you snagged. Good videos. ..subscribed!

Thanks Trek! I dispersed camp year round, not just during cool weather. Majority of my dispersed camping is in areas with high 90's and 80's humidity. I just don't think solar for me is the way to go. What do you do when the temps start to get in the 80;s - 90's? I don't let the weather dictate to me whether I can go camping or not. I have 2 Honda generators to ensure I can survive any type of weather so I can stay in a location as long as I want. I myself, like the warmer weather. But the generators, for now, works for me and what I'm needing them for.

@@DispersedCamperMan good points...camping style and preferences are definitely key. I regularly camp in areas hitting the 80's, but typically out west where humidity is low. Some folks use remote panels that extend to the sun while they park in the shade. Personally, I tend to travel to "chase 70 degrees" most of the time. Cheers!

I have hitch pin locks for my extension bar and my motorcycle carrier. They are bother locked onto my truck. If I'm away from my truck while the motorcycle is still loaded, I have a locking cable I run around the motorcycle to the carrier. When my motorcycle is sitting on the ground, I have the steering wheel locked to the far left. No one can push it away. I also have a Tchipie Disc Brake Alarm Lock on the front wheel of my motorcycle. Movement sets the very loud, piercing alarm off. After all that, my motorcycle is insured. Hope this helps!
