Robbie’s best voice work is the scene where Beast lets Belle go. He perfectly captures Beast’s emotions in that scene. In particular, his sadness at letting Belle go, yet also knowing that letting her go is the right thing to do. I also like his vocal performance when he shows Belle the mirror. You can tell that Beast wants Belle to be happy and help her out as much as possible.

And the scene where the Beast confronts Belle in the West Wing. The tone in his voice when he shouts "GET OUT!" is hauntingly chilling.

It's crazy how back then Disney didn't need big actors to voice in every movie they put out and both he and Paige were perfect for their roles. I guess Angela Lansbury was in it but still.

Ode to Billy Joe always makes me cry watching the movie or hearing the song. That is the first movie I seen him in as a kid and I had such a crush on Robbie but I saw the film in the 90's not realizing the movie was over 20yrs old. I didn't know he voiced the Beast in the Disney movies. I would never have guessed that roar came out of him. He is still A Beautiful looking man, even more so. I'm so glad he is healthy and still going strong with his teaching. God Bless Him!

Robbie Benson is the man and Beauty and Beast is my favorite fairy tale of all time. I have a copy of the original story in French and English, so it would make sense that someone of that magnitude would bring such a dynamic character to life. Great video as always.

The main reason Robby was cast as the Beast is because his voice not only captured the ferocious tone, but you could tell there was a prince buried beneath the fur. None of the other actors had that quality in their voices.

If you look at his IMDB filmography, you'll see that's he's continued to voice Beast to this very day. Every couple years he has yet another credit as Beast. I think that's wonderful that he continues to do it!

My favorite scene with Robby Benson/Beast was when he was furious with Belle cuz she wasn’t going to join him for dinner - he is in front of her door and has a hard time trying to get Belle to come down and have dinner with him. Even though the 3 other servants are assisting him, he doesn’t get what he wants and that makes him furious.

No, he went behind the camera. He's been Directing and Producing for years. In fact he was supposed to direct the episode of 8 Simple Rules that John Ritter was working on when he died suddenly.
