I remember seeing Robby on the beach in 1977. He was by himself standing and staring at the ocean. He looked perfect. I had never seen a bodybuilder before and I wanted to get closer but was scared of someone who looked that way. I certainly didn't want to get confronted by him. Robby should of won Mr Olympia that year for sure

I remember seeing Robby Robinson on Venice beach on Labor Day in 1978. I had just missed him by a few minutes in 1977 when he visited a gym in Detroit. He had the best back and biceps in body building at the time. Not being intimidated I talked to him for several minutes.

I was lucky enough to train with an older guy when I was in high school who had trained with the Golden Era guys. I loved listening to his stories about them. The main exercises he had me do were 10×10 of pull ups, dips, and front squats. I'm 51 now and it amazes me to think I used to do that in high school 3 days a week, with weight! In addition to my football strength and conditioning workouts.

As a small child I was fascinated by the bodybuilders in the muscle magazines and I would dream of being a bodybuilder myself. I knew all the bodybuilders. But for some reason it was Robby Robinson that made an indelible upon me and inspired me the most. He was a majestic poser on stage and in pictures.

I trained as a youth at Sammy's Better Body Fitness Centre in the early 80's. But even before then. Men like Robby Robinson were the Ones. All of them say, the next generation forerunners in a field that has had more than it's fair share of criticism. These men were not easily seen then no interenet or Mobile phones. So again for to Watch the interviews you present with the remnants of these men in these times even now is just awesome. Also the thing is I know for a fact there are many athletes in most areas of the sporting community that have used Roids or other drugs. Just they aren't concentrated on. Not like Body Builders that have been dragged across the coals for tens of years. I even took them for a while in that era. But I also did Vince's 12 eggs a day for 3 week cycles. That was a ripper! 😂😅 I am not saying drugs are good but many have used them in more athletic fields than just body building and these guys know the body and physicality so well. Maybe I am waffling now so just saying thanks for your work & investigations.

Can I get clarification on Robby's 10x10 routine in the beginning of his career? I understand he did total body workouts, one exercise per body part per day for 10x10... my question is "how many days per week did he do this?"
@007stopjockin2 жыл бұрын
Didn't Vince Gironda have an 8X8 system? I never heard of the 10x10, but I guess its similar lol, just 2 more reps and 2 more sets. RR looks good still for his age, but the mass and fullness he had from when he was young is definitely gone. Sucks we have to get old! Still is a legend to still be going strong! I guess he doesn't have any arthritis problems? Pretty amazing to be lifting those kind of weights at his age! I definitely can NOT lift heavy like when I was very young anymore. 007

I have seen Vince reccomend 10x10 (Later to be known as German Volume Training), 8x8 and 6x6, all with the Gironda staple of ultra short rest periods between sets.. I learnt all about these during the 90s reading MMI Ironman and countless books.. These old school guys from the 60s to 90s were the best in my opinion.
