It makes my heart so happy to see that Dinner has found such a supportive group to be around. I've struggled in many ways with some of the stuff Dinner does and having good people around you, who are willing to invest emotionally in you and your fight, can make all the difference. I rarely had that kind of support and seeing the way Dinner is treated with respect, based on the effort and skill he contributes to the team, brings a tear to my eye every time. So, so happy for Dinner specifically and the entire crew in general. Great job Mr. Layton in creating this kind of environment.

I 100% agree with this with bigger tires the little 4.3 just doesn't have the power for hauling much. I know as I have the same type of truck with the same motor and I have 31s or 32s on it and with hauling it's just not as great
@scout2nut
@scout2nut Жыл бұрын
I agree if you wanted to make it into something it wasn't. this is a tribute build to the kids father, you can find V8 trucks of this type anywhere that have never been wrecked and are dirt cheep, I think it needs to stay as original as possible, otherwise just buy the kid a new truck and be done , it would be cheaper in the long run.
@SurvivalistMedia
@SurvivalistMedia Жыл бұрын
He said he's getting a crate engine. So he might be being economical. The crate motors are cheaper. I agree completely. The fuds who suggested the 4.3 have never worked with the two engines. The people who suggested the 4.3 don't even change their own oil, and don't own a wrench. They don't know that a 4.3 was a space saving engine not a gas saver.

The majority of people who said keep the V6 were wrong. The 4.3 will get worse gas milage, and have less parts availability, and parts will cost more. The only reason they put that engine in the truck was to cut original purchase price. The 5.7 is better in every way. The people who suggested it were mistaken because they thought it would be better for a kid. He's gonna own this forever, the adult him would like the 5.7 better.

The young man is just 16. The V-6 might make his auto insurance more bearable (Illinois thinking here). Plus, he can do a swap later, and make it a project of his own. This young man could possibly keep this truck another 50 years! I think that would be great! 👍

Actually you should replace the drier. Being exposed to atmosphere it'll soak up moisture from the air especially if it's humid...... they are stored under a vacuum with rubber oring sealed plugs to prevent that. It can cause premature failure of the compressor is to reuse them after opening the system
@mikeworkman3593
@mikeworkman3593 Жыл бұрын
I'd just replace the drier anyways, who knows how old it is. On the new Fords they barely last 50k miles on our transit vans(E450s). I'd also flush all that system, because who knows it it had already failed before the wreck. At the very least run the ac for like an hour, then pop out the new orifice tube/screen and replace it if it's full of debris. I do this since it's impossible to flush the aftermarket ac system, for the rear ac.

35s with a 4.3 in a fullsize is absolutely stupid to do. 4.3 in a full-size is stupid in its own, put a v8 in it

I’ve only driven one full size 4x4 with a 4.3. That thing was impressive. I was shocked.

Yes PLEASE do a full redo on Dinner’s truck! Enjoy that content and he is a deserving guy. Good men like he and Hillbilly are scarce these days. I enjoy watching and with forty years in production jobs, thirty of that in foreman positions; I have much respect for those guys. Real men; the world needs more of men like you and your crew.

It is nice to see Dinner's serious side. After all the videos where he has been in a sort of in a "playful mode", the look of determination on the work for the truck was reassuring.
