Robbie and Crew, I am going to be 68 very soon and my wife doesn’t like me crawling under my jeep and other vehicles to work and maintain them. We talked about getting a lift but being on retirement income and the economy roller coaster we very reluctant to spend the money for one. Hopefully we can get lucky enough to win this one.

Yes Robby, some of the Vortec engines have fuel pump controller that keeps the fuel pump on for 15-20 seconds after shutdown and first key on to prime the system. It's usually mounted next to the ignition module. I believe it's only on certain emissions models.

Never in the history or these truck have they had a fuel pump controller. it is controlled the computer an relay 😂

@@morse705 actually they did, 1996-2000 they used a fuel control module on the 6.5. It's not like the driver modules on today's trucks but worked the same way basically. What I was referring to was a time delayed relay but they called it a fuel cycle control or hot fuel module. They was used up to 95 on the TBI engines to help with vapor locking or hot start conditions. Now after double checking, I do believe you are correct that they did not use this module on the 96 to 98 C/K body Vortec V6, but the delay may be programed into the PCM.

@@gerrymoeller well the 6.2 an 6.5 up to 95 didn’t have fuel pumps they had lift pumps an was controlled by a relay an fuse totally different from a gas rig they don’t have no kind of controller I’ve owned these trucks my whole life the full pumps are controlled by the computer relay an fuse when the key is turned on it powers the computer which powers the fuse panel an it sends signal to your pump when you shut the key off the computer holds power kinda like a surge protector an when the computer shuts off which is about 10-15 sec fuel pump shuts off this is tbi trucks or vortec trucks I’ve had over 30 maybe more an I’ve had my hands on every one of them

He lost eye sight in his right eye and I worried it would hinder the things he loved doing like rebuilding trucks but by the grace of God he still is able to do what he loves .

That daughter of yours is too cute. Part of my retirement plan was a building and lift. I was trying to get these done before I retired but timing did not work out. I have the building complete and was working with the Challenger lift guy when covid hit. He was considered non essential. I had specked out the Challenger CL10V3-DPC and adding a Turf Rail so I could work on my mower and compact tractor. Not happening for me now especially since my IRA took a dive. Good luck to someone that needs a lift more than I do.

Don't wait bro, just start your business. Good shops here are a month+ out to get your vehicle in. Flat backing it will suck for a bit but you'll be able to afford a lift on your own soon enough. Otherwise there will always be something else you need to get started.

Always check the bleeding procedure for the brakes with the instructions from the manufacturer. ABS systems usually require starting at the caliper closest to the module.

On my 93 S-10 with the 4.3 the fuel pump ran for a little after shut down. My grandpa who bought it new said it had always done it, sounds like it's normal.

Not a square body/square box it's a gmt400 newer style....known as obs or old body style...99-02 nbs 03-07 nnbs or cate eye..

It is likely a blessing in disguise. My first truck, I've still got it, had a ford 300 6 in it, my dad said he tracked down the 6 because he knew I couldn't get it going too fast. The lack of ponies may keep a 16/17 year old from getting himself in trouble or hurt. But being an adult that doesn't drive crazy anymore, I'd prefer a 350.
