I've seen some Japanese Experimental Research on this theory. I've tried it myself and it works for me as well.

I actually throw my curveball with the seams in between my 2 fingers, and I throw it with a higher rpm than if I threw it with my middle feeling the seam. I have no idea why.

On my fastball there’s a pretty noticeable drop on it when I don’t have my fingertips right on the seam, didn’t really think about it until seeing this for whatever reason, might be able to make my two seamer sink now, idk why I’d do it on a regular fastball though, have a splitter for that

I throw at high 40s and some times when I throw my two seam it looks like it’s floating and I can almost hear it making wind but I have no idea how many rpms I have.Anybody got any idea on how to tell how much spin rate I have?
