Here's another of me playing the Organ at All Saints Church and demonstating another Hymn for Mothering Sunday "Come Down O Love Divine Tune Down Ampney its in Mission Praise Number 89 if Arthur wants to sing along.

I’m told Vaughn Williams wasn’t the best believer in town but it’s amazing he edited Hymns Ancient and Modern and contributed so much to the music heritage of the Church of England. By the way, Down Ampney was his birth village where his father was Vicar.❤️🙏🇬🇧

Vicar's sons find these things difficult (maybe it's even a reason why Catholic Priests don't marry). RVW was certainly a good man, even though he had a sinful affair while married. He did not need to serve in WW1 (but did so anyway) - Royal Artillery that made him deaf, and ambulance service - one of the bravest and hardest roles offering many sights that can never be unseen. But the Holy Spirit works as He works, at times a little enigmatically (as Jesus Himself noted). Can't possibly imagine that RVW's genius was NOT raised to transcendence through the Holy Spirit - OF COURSE IT WAS!!!

Beautiful playing. That organ has a lovely 'clean' sound to it. This wonderful hymn was sung at my wedding in January 2015. Very happy memories associated with it. Thank you for the video.

Yes; when it is played as Ralph intended, with the correct phrasing and tempo; giving each note their proper count and observing the dynamic markings where applicable. Some sections sound rushed which kinda affected the beauty of the hymn. It is not one that should be rushed.

I like this - nice registration, clear rhythm but I notice a held note "mine" at the end of the second line (V1) and the other verses; shouldn't that run straight though? But it is generally sounding quite professional - well done!
