The 'Pot of Gold' that many amateur golfers search for is forward shaft lean at impact. After all, that's what the best ball strikers do...
But there is more to forward shaft lean than meets the eye. There are necessary body movements that must be in place to make forward shaft lean possible. The biggest one is SHOULDER TILT at impact.
In this video, using the GOLFTEC 3D motion measurement system, I will show you HOW to move in order to achieve the "Holy Grail" of forward shaft lean at impact, and WHY YOU MUST TILT!
Any questions? Post them down below, and please consider "liking" and sharing this video if you found it helpful. Please subscribe to my channel and grow the community.

Great content! Very insightful. I’ve been to Golftec SG before for a Corp event; and even in those 2 hours got tips on my swing that has made a meaningful difference to the consistency of my ball striking. 👍🏽👍🏽

I never appreciated until yesterday just how my head was actually moving ahead of the ball at impact. This video Rob has helped me understand just where I was going wrong in that regard. I just hope I have enough years left in life to hopefully get this right one of these days.

Excellent instruction. I rarely take a divot with my irons. This hopefully will help me to better compress the ball at impact.

I struggle with fat shots and interestingly I started employing the weight forward setup of ST without realizing it mid round a few months ago. I was tired of shifting my weight to the rear leg and not having the strength, flexibility and/or coordination to get back to the front side on time. immediately, when concentrating on keeping weight forward I started to stripe the ball. I have recently gravitated away from weight forward setup because most instruction says this is bad. However I am so excited to see a school of thought that weight forward is indeed correct. I went to the range a couple days ago to practice one of Rob’s tips (before I realized it was ST instruction) and it felt quite odd but my divots were quite beautiful-shallow, dollar bill like and in front of the ball. Something I never really achieve except by accident in my current swing (where even my best iron shots have some element of fat in them.). I was hitting into a huge net at this range, but I feel like my half swings with ST were close to my distance with my normal full swing...and no doubt it seemed much easier to achieve with ST. I look forward to exploring the stack and tilt method much more.

Hi rob is your club face slightly open at impact or square? I’m I right by thinking the more the ball back in stance the more the club face is open at impact. If that’s the case should you stand open at address and swing along your feet line to hit a straight shot.thanks

@@golftecasia is it possible to tilt to much toward the target in the backswing? It seems as though this is a massive power move if done correctly not allowing the hips to move off the left leg line. What I mean is not creating a K shape when viewed from the face on view at the top of the backswing.

Hi, Rob Another excellent video. I have a question for you, prompted by something you said in another clip. You said that your shoulders and hips were open a little at address. That got me thinking. I know this is a big request, but would it be possible for you to tell me what your shoulder tilt, shoulder turn, your spine angle, and hip turn numbers are for positions P-1 through P-6? I think this would be extremely helpful in my development of the S & T swing. Thanks. Art

Good stuff. Something I have to be cautious of is too much lateral movement(hip slide) vs not enough opening of the left hip. This makes me tilt my upper body back too much(as a counter balance), and usually results in a fat shot, or a shot that goes too high. Any thoughts?

55-70% on the lead side, the rest on the trail side. Eg) 55/45, 60/40, 70/30, etc. Key is to get more weight on lead side at setup, and keep it there throughout the entire swing. Never let weight shift to the trail side.

Can someone give me a reference point as to where the ball should be positioned in relation to my feet? For say a 9 iron for example to help me get a consistent low point of my swing?

I'm getting more and more interested in S&T as most every swing method I've seen incorporates some of its elements. Of course, presetting the impact position is something that, IMO, used to be laughed at (e.g. Kirk Junge's method, even Jim Venetos) but is valuable in that it at least gives the golfer an idea of what's going on at impact. One thing I'm curious about, though, is the relative degree of shoulder and hip rotation (on the downswing). It seems that all Rob talks about is hips; i.e. slide and rotation. Therefore, we should make a conscious effort to rotate the hips rather than the shoulders. However, the shoulders end up rotating more than the hips do, which leads one to believe we would be better off concentrating on the shoulders, letting them drag the hips around. Unfortunately, anytime I try doing that (concentrate on the shoulders/upper torso) I end up over the top or with my hips square to the target line at impact. Paradoxically, I get the best results by concentrating on rotating the hips and letting THEM drag the arms/shoulders. Regardless, thanks for the video, I really like your teaching style, Rob.

@@golftecasia Thank you for taking the time to respond. I sort of anticipated your explanation, in fact my judgment (non-professional) is that swing speed actually is the product of the hips leading the arms around until they (hips) suddenly stop rotating at their limit, which causes the arms to speed up and sling the club around the body. Watching you emphasize the hip slide has caused me to realize I was not getting anywhere near as forward as I thought I was. Now, on the few occasions when I succeed in actually creating a low point ahead of the ball, impact becomes a completely foreign experience. Satisfying, but foreign.

Interesting question would be ... why is setup position different than impact position. Would it not make sense to have setup as impact position.
@metalheads-golf
@metalheads-golf 3 жыл бұрын
@@golftecasia thx for getting back on the statement and yes setup is a different phase of the total swing and static, but that does not explain why it should not have a position which is active and more athletic and something to get back too isn't it? It would trigger the propreoceptors too have place to come back too as impact is the same. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

The low point of the swing is in front of the lead side armpit. At that point every golfer want to get full extension of the primary lever (lead arm and shaft ) not prior that point. If we use common sense and our ball position is six inches before low point. How would be the shaft lean ? forward, backward or neutral? use common sense. you have the answer most of the time and stop looking for tips on KZbin!
