This video is about Tire Rub Fix on my Tacoma but works on other trucks.
First is to figure out where it's rubbing then working on how to fix it. Most of the time it won't cause any damage but it sure is loud when it happens!!!
If you think about a getting a 285 tire you may need a Cab Mount Chop (CMC) done.
I FOUND MY HEATGUN FOR PART 2!!!
If you need a dremel I got it here: dremel with grinder tool amzn.to/2AHcdEW
heat gun amzn.to/2CAxaP1
items used to produce this video:
Samsung Galaxy S8+ amzn.to/2wCFA4M
Manfrotto mini tripod amzn.to/2EvV6UK
Metal Smartphone Tripod Mount for cell phones amzn.to/2lCN7g0

Just had 265/75/r16 with -10 offset installed on a stock height 2012 toyota tacoma today and had to get my cordless dremel and cut the lil plastic corners where the tire was hitting, definitely gonna try this with a heat gun, good technique 👍🏽👍🏽

@@scottlandb6579 the rubbing occurred when offroading mostly. This is a stock suspension in this video. There was some rub while turning coming up parking lots. A lift will help on road but not for offroading as your wheel will "stuff" into the fender then rub. I just put up this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5_ZnIKtfdmbrbc you can see me stuffing the front.

Thanks for watching. To answer your question it will rub against hopefully just plastic and may rub that portion out. The concern is if it's rubbing a pinch weld or fender. They rub enough to get really sharp then it will shred up your tire. Just look for the rub spots and you should be able to tell how much priority you need to put. Thanks

@RobDaman
@RobDaman 5 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. It really depends how big of a tire you're using, what wheel offset/backspace, what suspension and even alignment as more positive caster will help. Also it depends what you're doing.. street, offroad, both. So going up 1 size you should be ok to do what I did. Going up more..then prep for cmc.

Awesome video, that you! I'm thinking about going up to 265/75 R16's also on my 2017 tacoma. However, I have a steel front bumper that weighs about 180 lbs. Do you think that added weight will add excessive rub? I have stock TRD offroad wheels and probably won't add spacers or backspacing unless I have to. Thanks for the help, awesome videos man!
@RobDaman
@RobDaman 6 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the vid. I doubt you will have issues on a 265/75 and that bumper especially with a stock offset wheel. The rub is generally an issue when it "sweeps" in and out not up and down unless it's a really big tire. You may want to change your coil springs to compensate for the added weight on the front end more for driveability and comfort. Thanks again for watching. 👍

Wow quick reply! I'll eventually upgrade to 5100's all around and new coils but just need to save $$$ right now. Just wore out my current stock tires and want to upgrade to a beefier AT tire. I know you've said good things about the K02's, did you have any problems getting them balanced? I've heard a few people had problems with that. Also looking at the ST Maxx's as an alternative.
