Robert De Niro on 50 Years with Martin Scorsese and a New Baby at 80

In this AARP interview, 80-year-old Robert De Niro discusses the secret to his longtime collaboration with director Martin Scorsese, and he gets emotional talking about his new baby girl, Gia, who was born in April 2023 with De Niro’s girlfriend, Tiffany Chen.
De Niro is featured on the cover of the February/March 2024 issue of “AARP The Magazine” and was named this year’s best supporting actor from AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards for his role in “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
In the video, Robert De Niro reflects on all of the films he’s created with director Martin Scorsese over the past 50 years and how “trust” has been a key to their prolific working relationship. The duo have made ten feature films together, including “Mean Streets” (1973), “Taxi Driver” (1976), “New York, New York” (1977), “Raging Bull” (1980), “The King of Comedy” (1983), “Goodfellas” (1990), “Cape Fear” (1991), “Casino” (1995), and “The Irishman” (2019.)
Their 10th feature film together is 2023’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” a historical crime drama about a series of murders of the Osage people after oil was found on tribal land. It also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone and marks the first time in three decades since De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio have co-starred in a feature film together. When DiCaprio was a teenager, they starred together in “This Boy’s Life.”
In his personal life, De Niro marvels at being a new dad at age 80, calling it “wondrous,” and says he wants “to be around for as long” as he can to enjoy fatherhood.

In 2015 Robert was filming a movie on my office floor. I didnt realize the person speaking to me was Robert. A coworker told me. Robert was very kind to me. I understand people dont like him for his political views.

I have respect and admiration for Robert De Niro. Choosing to father a baby at eighty years old is selfish. I would say the same thing to a woman who wanted a procedure to have a baby at eighty years old. How much time can an elderly parent spend with a baby? Think about it from the child's point of view. Their parents look like grandparents who won't see their children grow up.
