Not even in the same universe. Eddie was actually funny. I was a kid staying up past my bed time watching these shows. Eddie and Piscapo were hilarious. RDJ's season was trash. After that season they brought back Lorene Michaels.

Season 11 (the season Robert Downey, Jr. was on) wasn't bad. Misguided, yes. Uneven, totally. But not bad. At least not compared to seasons 6, 20, and whatever current season people rag on for being bad all because their favorite cast member left. And here's a fun fact about season 11: most of the writers hired would go on to do The Simpsons during its good years. Also, season 11 was the first time SNL hired an openly gay man (Terry Sweeney, whose Nancy Reagan impression was actually pretty funny) and a black lesbian (Danitra Vance, who quit because she didn't want to be typecast in stereotypical roles and sadly died of breast cancer in 1994), so for anyone who thinks SNL just started hiring LGBTQ people out of the blue in the 2010s and 2020s with Kate McKinnon, Bowen Yang, Punkie Johnson, and Molly Kearney (and, yes, being non-binary/non-gender conforming does more-or-less count as being trans), now you know it isn't true.
