This is a beautiful instrumental jazz variation on Joni's lovely ballad . It nurtures the song's strong feeling of yearning and desire. The piano melody catches the mood and the group plays beautifully together throughout. In Joni's original, she has the talent to match wonderful words to her melodies from her keen observations. Here she takes her insight into a familiar barangrill like one that most of us have visited, but she sees things most of us overlook. To write lyrics and melody that mesh so well together is an amazing gift that is not handed out very often. I hear those words sometimes when I listen to this, but this version has strength and stands completely on its own.
