I found this film through this extract popping up in a Psychtrance song. Sounds class.

I love that the voiceover, thats played throughout the film, stops once Robert Mckee criticizes about using voiceover in film.

Honestly, brian cox is amazing. To the point that the interaction with charlie kaufman/nicholas cage make this scene one of the most memorable moments from the film, specially with its main point.

I like when his twin brother character won't stop saying McKee says this & McKee says that & his Kauffman character says you sound like you're in a cult

This is a perfect scene. Absolutely perfect. The acting, writing, cinematography, everything. To me, this is why people go to the movies.

I can’t tell if this movie is mocking McKee or not. Ebert said the movie was. I’m not sure.

McKee: God help you! It's flaccid, sloppy writing. Any idiot can write voice-over narration to explain the thoughts of a character. You must present the internal conflicts of your character in image, in symbol. Film is a medium of movement and image.

I remember having this conversation in my movie class and they were bringing up the difference of how voice over is used on other films to the voice overs in Martin Scorsese films. One of my classmates stated that the difference is that characters in Scorsese films aren’t explaining their thoughts in a voice over but it’s like if the character is having a conversation with us, the audience.

@@theawesomebat1244 Ha. When I was watching this clip, my mind went to Scorsese and his reason for so much voiceover is so considered and well done. Euphoria uses a lot of voiceover for this same reason too and it works wonderfully.

You know Marge, the story about your son losing his life was a bit of a yawner. I don't know if you've heard Sherry's story about losing change on the bus this morning, but you might want to take a couple pointers.
