Yes, Palmer was ALWAYS on the downbeat and so were a few others in the 1980's. THAT was the fun part.

I can't think of any other videos from the 80's that are more memorable than Robert's. It's 2024, and his videos and music are still just as good today as when they came out! That's real art right there!!

One hell of a rendition. I never thought a guy would be able to pull it off based on how it was written and conceptualized for Cherrelle.

For those that didn't know...😊 "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" is the debut single written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and originally performed by American singer Cherrelle in 1984. In 1986, "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" was covered by English singer Robert Palmer. Palmer's cover fared better on the pop chart while Cherrelle's version was a hit on the R&B chart.
@vincentwashington41063 ай бұрын
@@janeentumbao8690 Perhaps that was part of Cherrelle's and Robert Palmer's well planned strategy. Do two versions of a great song and see if the people like them. Seems like the strategy is still working.

I guess he wanted them all for himself. I liked his tunes as a teen. One of the first songs where a guy stands his ground about turning down sex. Both genders have the right. At least he is trying to be nice. Nowadays the poor guy would be sued and crucified. LOL. This song from yesteryear was popping in my head. I forgot the singer's name. He died of a heart attack in his 50's. Very sad.
